I'm working on activity where you must couple to the AI engine as helper. In 50% of cases MSTS crashes when such coupling occurs. I can't detect rule why it is happen or not. Most successful couplings were when I was in the cab view (not outside) and when meet speed do not exceeded 1 mph.
The same happens when you playing a helper role and trying to couple to the back of AI train.
Is there a way to do this successfully or MSTS just can't handle such situation?

But there is nothing about avoiding crashes.
Storkels from the 1st post got the same result:
"3) Helper coupled to AI train, program crashed
in various ways 42%"

RE: Coupling with AI helper?

Awaken 77,I've tried everything with AI trains and I feel that MSTS 1 can't handle this situation well. I think the best remedy is to wait for MSTS 2.I've had good results coupling onto static locomotives---they become alive after coupling! I split an activity into two parts to pull this scenario off. This is probably the most satisfactory solution for now. Good luck!Steve
