I am trying to use a BNSF interlocking signal on a branch laving the main. I have tried www.railfan.org.au/steam4me... , numorous google searchs, a file search resulting in a zip I can not unzip, a forum search, the "techdocs", and the editors and tools help. Could I be missing a animation? I have tried everything I can think of. I am bcoming very discouraged, any help would be great. Thank You

RE: I need signal help, please

Ok this is pretty easy to do,ok this what you do og into the route editor and select your route. After you do this go to the singal and hit the house with arrow and hit your singal until it is red than hit the house with a "I" on it when it says properties go to singal and hit the link button and that should do it. (you must another block singal to make this.)Glad I could help,
James

James don't take this the wrong way, but I'm not sure what your saying. I was thinking that maybe I am missing a file some where that I need to move to get them to work. I know about linking them and so on, my problem is in th sim itslf when I try to run on it the signal is always red not matter what way the switch it is linked to is thrown.

RE: I need signal help, please

Is this your only signal? If so this may be the problem. To determine what aspect to show, a lot of signal scripts query the next signal, and if there isn't a next signal, that could be the problem. Maybe you could give a more detailed description of your situation.

RE: I need signal help, please

Sorry, I'm new. I have about 20 signals right now. I can add more but from what your saing that should be enough. I have not movee any thing other than shapes and textures from the Marias Pass folder to my route folder. Like I said I think I might ned to move something else that's signal related. Thanks for at least trying to help me everyone.

RE: I need signal help, please

The only tutorial I know of is sigdoc01.zip in the file library.Biggest problem is; how do I set up signals? Answer is; it depends on what you want them to do. The standard BNSF interlocking signals default to red IN AN ACTIVITY unless there is an ACTIVE (not run yet) path thru the signal. In explore route mode the same signals default to green, so you can't test signals in explore route mode. Create an activity with a path that runs thru the signal and it will be green, provided there are at least 3 unblocked signals beyond it and the path runs thru those signals. If you decide to back up and then run thru the same signal again, it will be red this time unless the activity was programmed with reversing points to go thru that signal twice. If the next signal is red it will show yellow, if the second signal is red it will be flashing yellow, if the third signal is red it will show green. The last signal on the path will always be red since it has to trace a clear path to the next signal to display anything other than red, and if it's the last signal there ain't no next signal to trace a path to.Good luck, when you introduce AI traffic it gets worse. Here's some of my early trials and tribulations:http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=2386&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=2444&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=2595&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=2670&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes Dunno if that will do you much good, since my intent was to set up the signals for non-traditional activities where the player was free to go wherever he wanted, while AI traffic was running on a parallel route that occasionally intersected the player route.http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=3073&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=3909&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes
