Ghosting Glazing – image 1

Forum,The NHRR 8600 series of Pullman coaches had vestibules at both ends of the car. The existing model does not. Copying the existing vestibule, to the other end of the car…, simple enough. Deleting the two un-needed windows…, still simple. Adjusting the Alpha channel regarding the deleted windows and provide for the new vestibule door window…, also simple. However, in viewing the end result…, the deleted windows are trying to re-appear. Obviously something else needs to be done. What pray tell?Thnx, Bob (Credit:

Something on the interior view?
Looks like another poly in the same area, as if there were two polys facing the same direction, either on the same plane or very close.Frank MusickMoving America into the 19th Century!

I think that the ones who did it (TA?) added the glass as a separate part from the model as not to ruin the texture with alpha channels and instead use another texture specifically for the alpha. I could be wrong though.../JonatanSteam rules!

RE: Ghosting Glazing...,

Hang tight as we are currently testing some 8600 cars built from the ground up by our own Phil Moberg....
We're trying to get them ready to go with the I-5.....BTW, I knew the ESE reskins were not 100% accurate as far as NH is concerned (I grew up on the NH and several of Mom's cousins worked for the railroad).... But they were light years ahead of everything else available at that time and our friend Vern Horton agreed to repaint them into 8600s for us so we had something to run with our EP5 and Alco PAs..... Even after all this time they still look pretty good.... Say what you will the boys at TA were extremely good at what they did.....Chuck Schneider

Pete, Frank, Jonatan, Thanx for your input.Yes, the glazing seems to be a separate ace. Two ace files actually. I haven’t exactly figured out how they work in combination. It seems that one is for inside looking out and the other…, outside looking in. More than likely I’m wrong on this. In any event I tried all sorts of combination with the ace files. With Alpha, without, with texture, without…, replaced texture with NH Red…., nothing worked. Ghosting still appeared with every attempt.I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that the ‘window opening’ is in the model proper. Therefore, not holding texture as it should. The density of the ghosting changes with various point of view. Course I could be wrong…, have been before.Chuck,

Thanx too for your input. I’ll be looking forward to your 8600 series. And I didn’t mean to sound critical of the TA ESE repaints. I had recently picked up a copy of the “NH Color Guide...” by Messer’s Sweetland and Horsley and notice some subtle differences. So I thought I’d try my hand at getting them a bit more prototypical I guess I’ll just modify as best I can till I become more proficient. And yes, the TA bunch are quite good at what they do. Once again, most appreciative.
