IC SD70 #1033 troubles… help!

Alright, so everything was great like you all saw in my post below. Thing looked great and wonderful, then I loaded her up for a test run and below is what i got, a patchy, blotchy ugly thing.
Anyone know how to fix this by chance?Thanks,

Thanks Clayton but I cant get a whole lot out of that. Theyre photo skins, not added in color changes and weathering and such. Im also very very new to paint shop pro 8.0 and am learning what all these tools do. What do i have to adjust on this engine's skins to make it look better? Thanks

What is the dimensions of the textures ex- 1024 512 etc. That might a=have somthing to do with it. If you still can't figure it out, I could have a look at them. Just PM me if you wawnt me too. does the file with the hood on it have an alpha? if so, $20 monopoly says that's teh problem..I've heard that happening before. Bradley Linda

The texture for the side has an alpha, I would Imagine so the colours come up the same as those front etc. Is it a 1024 or 512? Photo textures ususally look pretty bad on 512s....Hope that helpsAdam

Kevin I'm not a skinner or modeler but would it have been much easier to use the current paint scheme and apply the IC fonts instead of the photo reskin? The ace files were 512X512 but I changed them to 1024X1024 and it made no difference.Can i just delete the alpha channels if that would solve the problem?
I can live with non-see through windows lol especially since the photos Im using have crews in them and wouldnt look that bad...As for using the NS black, I think the photo textures look better. Not to bash Danny cus i could never do what he does even if i wanted to, but I had the shots I needed and had never done a photo skin, so I thought Id give it a try. There are other people I believe who are using the NS texture and just relettering it. I simply wanted mine to be different.Thanks,Kevin V.

Nothing wrong with being different.But you may have to follow the lead and use the current paint texture that Danny used to get the desired results.At least you gave it a try and that's what really counts.Now if you were needing a unit that showed it's age you have it right there.Claude Debnam NS Piedmont Division Raleigh East

While in TGATool2, i clicked on the "Creat Alpha Channel" and it made a white one in the box. That did it.

I'm not sure exactly why that worked. Did the original file have an alpha channel or not? It is my experience that long-hood texture files do not have alpha channels. It is also my experience that the alpha channels are what cause problems like these. So did you delete the original alpha, and then add a "blank" one, or was there not one present to begin with? What was your file originally saved as? Was it a .bmp or a .tga? If files do not have an alpha, it makes more sense to save them as. bmps. If you originally saved it as a .tga, that may have been part of the problem.

It started as an ace, went to a targa via TGAtool2 then saved as targa with an alpha on both the cab image and long hood image. Saved, created an ace, looked good in shape viewer and crap in TS.
Reloaded the ace into TGAtool2, clicked "Create Alpha Channel" was prompted with an overwrite nmessage, clicked yes, a what was a black alpha with white spots became solid white. Did it with both and bam! it worked.
Now Im only waiting for MLT's permission to upload the engines. I will have tree numbers, 1030,1033,1034.Kevin V.

Hopefully MLT is quick on the permissions deal so that these beauties can be uploaded to the file library (don't know who would handle this - I know Danny is active over here, but I think Jason, being the head guy of MLT, would have to be the one to give permission - correct me if I'm wrong). Kevin, SWEET!!!! Only one thing I see wrong....the numberboard fonts.. I forget which one is close to correct, but it is in Windows. Nice work!!

Hey Kelley-
Good to here from you!!If anyone knows what font it is, I'll change it. lol I know it sint correct! Its just the default one from PSP8.0. Give me the font and that'll be a whole 10 second fix!
I await MLT's permission for upload plus Im attempting a different cabview for these babies but no guarantees there.Thanks!

Hey Kevin, Calisto MT is really colse for the "1's" and "0's", and Palatino Linotype is close to the rest of the numbers. However, no one is perfect. The new IC uses their own fontage. Hope that helps!!!BTW, look for something from NALW eventually that will make the SD70's CORRECT! Later!
