From this day on, Any YLW or TKW works coming from me will have NO weathering at all! factory fresh! Thanks Kuju! Loving every second of your big infested, low budget, all you can eat crash buffet of distorted carnival jokes of a train sim!

RE: *RANT* Weathering & Color distortion

Well I guess you'll have to lower your standards and try it in 8,16, or 24 bit color then or try you're hand at multiple layers. All you can do somerimes is sit back and laugh at the sim, do what you can, and move on to something else!! Its what I do!! Jim

RE: *RANT* Weathering & Color distortion

I hear you too Shawn. I ran into the same thing on my Amtrak 777. I didn't think it was one of the best weathering jobs but I thought it was ok and didn't want to drag on the release of the unit. I'm having the same issue wit my upcoming Reading RS3s.I'll try the issue with the noise and layering on my RS3s. I already tried the layering at different % and that did not prodce acceptable results IMHO.GH

RE: *RANT* Weathering & Color distortion

Hey, shawn...I feel your pain....I had similar problem on some tankcar reskins.....I had a beautiful gradient going ..look great on the acefile itself...but looked like sh*t in the sim. However when I did the desoft 86'boxcar reskins...I was able to do some weathering on them and it looks fine (go figure)...could it be releated to texture size?...the dekosoft cars were 1024x1024....or maybe a mipmapping issue?....I wonder. How did you go about putting that weathering on? airbrush in psp or photoshop? maybe you could try lowering the transparency on the weathering layers? If you want...send me a copy of the model and texture (without weathering) and let me screw around withit....Ill use the same techniques I did on the 86' boxcars and see if I can't find a solution or common denominator that causes this problem.Longhairedwizardbbzak@msn.com

I have had some luck, i used a much lighter coating and .75% noise, the color reduction is still there, but not as evident

RE: *RANT* Weathering & Color distortion

Trains with with 32 bit colours still look fine on my M$TS! But they don't have weathering! So how does weathering affect M$TS anyway? It's only a picture file!

--You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!--
Eh, where did my signature go?
Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it?
Told you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted 5 seconds!

RE: *RANT* Weathering & Color distortion

because once theres a alpha on a .ace file, the usable amount of colors drops significantly, and the si groups them up by closest match rather then a nice gradient, In a perfect world, it would display 16.7 million colors instead of the limited amount it insists
