RE: More Movie Train Shots

Looking good Gary. I searched high and low for pictures of these units on the net and couldn't find nothing. So we'll just have to assume that you are pretty damn close. I'll get them from the library when you finish them. I like fantasy engines if you weren't aware, but you probably grew tired of seeing every BigBlow turbine I repainted into 25 different road schemes. Later, Jim

RE: More Movie Train Shots

Jim
If you check my first update post a few posts down there's a link where GE44tonner posted a pic of the hero loco, apparently the GP40 was the only one I've seen pics of.(probably because the very different paint job)Jeffery
The Sierra Pacfic was used in a 1973 made for TV movie that ABC was cashing in on the disaster movie craze with called "Runaway!" (not to be confused with the late 80's early 90's "Runaway Train") about a ski train in the Rockies that loses it's brakes and is out of control and heading for a date with the end of track bumper at(and most likely the waiting room and street out in front of) Denver Union Station,
The train in the film was pulled by D&RGW GP30 3011 and GP35 3022(from what I've been able to find out at the time of filming all RG 35's had no seats etc and were essentialy B unit's) and GP40 3081 was painted silver & red as the "hero" loco that comes out of a siding behind the runaway, couples on to the rear car and stops the train just short of the bumpers.
Unfortunatly the film is not avalible on tape or DVD.
I'm think of just for fun doing up a caboose and freight car or two for the Si Pac as wellGary S

RE: More Movie Train Shots

Nice Work!!! I fondly remember that movie and wish that they would air it again (at least on some "classic" type cable station).Someone actually did a msts activity which was similar in that you approached a train from behind and stopped it with you diesel. I think it was on a non-signaled route though. I may take a stab at writing an activity that recreates that movie if I can find an appropriate route to do it on.Longhairedwizard

RE: More Movie Train Shots

Hey, thanks!
Somebody should do the 1985 "Runaway Train" locos,
a set of the GP40, F7A, and two GP7Us, I think they were. Easy to paint, all black with white weathering from snow. -Jeffrey

Back before the board crashed someone had posted pics of the Runaway Train locos that they had skined up for MSTS but never uploaded, maybe because while the film was interesting, the production company was uninspired to do more than just the quick and dirty cover up of the Alaska RR livery.
If I'm not mistaken we've got an Amroad(Silver Streak) passenger set in the FL,someone has skinned the Runaway Train consist,I'm working on the Sierra Pacfic.
Any one want to take on the Illinois Southern? (The Fugitive)Gary S

Of course the "AM Road" Fs,
"Southland RR" from "End Of the Line"
Runaway Train Locos
Illinois Southern, (U23B, Hi-Nose GP30)
Fox' "WestRail" from the TV movie "Atomic Train"
Any others?-Jeffrey
