OK, so it's just a GP9....and doesn't have the power and sex-appeal of many of the favorite repaints around here. But, in the Lehigh Valley Route that I'm working on (centered around the Easton, Pa./Phillipsburg, NJ area), the principal lines operating there were:
1. the Lehigh Valley
2. CNJ
3. Pennsy
4. Reading also used (and controlled much of the CNJ)
5. Lehigh and New England
6. New York Central
7. Penn Central
8. Conrail Every one of these lines except the LNE (as far as I know), utilized the GP9. Obviously, it was a "workhorse" and has good longevity - so it apparently will be a presence in my route. So.....thought I'd take a break from the Route Editor, and get some equipment ready to roll. Here are the Lehigh Valley, CNJ, and Reading versions......New York Central, PennCentral, and Conrail yet to come. And, obviously, since this is going to be used so much, a custom cab is in the works as well.
Oh, and before I forget.....repaints are from the original Demo verson from "3DTrains.com"

RE: just a lowly GP9

Thanks for your nice comments guys. Didn't notice it til I posted the pics, but I forgot to paint the darn Cab roof!! Also forgot the safety stripe on the steps, and didn't really care too much for how the number board displayed.....this is the best fix I can come-up with for now.

RE: just a lowly GP9

dont mean to cause trouble but CNJ units 1520(?) to 1531 were GP7's equipped with steam generators and lighting equipment boxes and mainly worked out of Jersey City-however, the CNJ DID have GP9's, numbers 1526 & 1532 were involved in an accident in which they went over the Newark Bay Drawbridge (see Enocell's route). The units were rebuilt as freight GP9's and numbered 1531 & 1532 (the old 1531 became the new 1526). In later years the CNJ also came in the posession of older B&O GP9's that were painted in plain blue. also, somebody repainted the entire fleet of CNJ GP7's and they are in the download library. i also suggest you visit this site, very useful: http://www.northeast.railfan.net/cnj_atr.html

CURRENT CNJ ROUTES:
Newark & New Jersey
CNJ Southern Sub-Division
Lehigh Valley
Any others? Tell me about them!

Not a problem....the oversight was on my part. Thanks for the link - a very informative and (exhaustive) compilation of data, history, & photos - which I have visited numerous times in the past. Doing the CNJ GP9 created several difficulties, namely:

1. The link you provided is extremely thorough...but, as I'm sure your aware, it contains NO photos of the CNJ GP9's.
As such, I had to use pics of GP7's to "approximate" things. 2. CNJ apparently had the habit of changing their paint scheme every time a different gallon of paint went on sale!
Even if you exclude the "Tangerines", "Baby Faces", and "Blue Comets", the rest of the stock is painted (shall we say) somewhat inconsistantly.
Sometimes plain blue, then blue with yellow stripes, or maybe green, or green striped, then the "Coast Guard" red pattern, black with white stripes, horizontal frame striping only....whatever.
At times, you might see the same unit with 3 different motifs. (I've attached a composite from the site as an example). So, I basically just used what I thought looked best, and the scheme that I liked best.....and hey, that's part of the fun of doing your own route.....you can be God, alter history, be as anachronistic as you please cause it's your world.Nonetheless, defering to your greater knowledge of the subject, I can redo the number to perhaps "1532" - although, your one sentence has me a little confused where you say: "the CNJ DID have GP9's, numbers 1526 & 1532 were involved in an accident in which they went over the Newark Bay Drawbridge (see Enocell's route). The units were rebuilt as freight GP9's and numbered 1531 & 1532 "From that, it appears that the 1526 was a GP9, then rebuilt after the acceident and renumbered? In any event, really do appreciate the input and/or any suggestions.
Thanks again.

RE: just a lowly GP9

Nice repaints. Great that you did the other(I mean one of the others) paint scheme on the LV #300. I made the grey striped version of the same loco. There has been so many different schemes on the LV...

RE: just a lowly GP9

About the LV schemes, I just started an GP38-2 #325 using Dekosoft's model. It has the black & white safety striping unlike the GP38AC's.

RE: enocell

Thanks for your comments & input.Because the LV equiptment will be the dominant presence on my route, I will probably do another GP9 in the scheme of No. 301 (pictured below).
I know "Werner" and someonelse (maybe you?) have already done this, but I enjoy doing my own. With regards to the GP38, yes, I will obviously do some of those as well, but I won't be using the black & white striping (I think it gives it too much of a "modern" look - and I intend to still have steam and early diesels running on my route) - so will probably go with the scheme used in No.310 (also i picture below).
It seems they kept that scheme up thru No. 313, then from 314 upwards switched to the black & white. By the way.....will be using a number of your buildings in the route - you did a fantastic job on them - thanks!

RE: enocell

I'm making one GP38-2 #325, see this thread:
http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID8/2990.htmlI'm thinking to make also weathered GP38-2(probably #324) with this clean one. Maybe even one GP38AC, as it looks the same, but without the stripes.Th reason to the b&w striping was that numbers #314-325 were GP38-2's. Numbers 310-313 were GP38AC's.

RE:GP38's

Sounds great....will be able to use all. Is there much of a difference between the Dekosoft model vs. the standard game GP38? I know some models do a better job with mapping the texture than others - and some have a much more realistic shape. And thanks once again for your helpful info.

RE:GP38's

They have 1000 times better texture mapping. And of course the model itself looks very much better, and there's many different variations of them(plow or no plow, smaller or big plow, bell, dyn brakes, ditch lights, etc.)

RE: just a lowly GP9

Really like your work and look forward to the chance to download them. I am quite found of the pre and early Conrail days. I would also hope that you may offer you route up for download upon completion I for one would certainly enjoy running these, and some of the other Pre, post and modern day Conrail stuff, all of which is just awesome! Thanks!Dan Godfrey
