What does Broken Path nest to a service mean in the activity editor? I cannot load these, it comes up with an error. How do I fix this and if I install a backup copy of these activities will it fix the broken paths? Cheers,Phil http://trainsimming.tripod.comP.S. Perhaps you may start seeing activities from me!!!
LAST EDITED ON May-18-02 AT 04:05 PM (EDT)Phil, have you done the search that Rich suggested? There is alot of information there for the picking. Rich's post on the fix is here http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID7/464.htmlSharon
Hi thanks for the info. Tht was very useful. I am doign an activity on Settle to Carlisle and have not made any changes to the route so I don't no how this could have happened.
Phil, There is usually a path connection between the broken path of the service you have found with another service that has been changed beforehand AND that shares the same path point as the one you've found broken. Especially if the "player drivable path" was checked. I've spent some time testing "broken points" to learn about it and in testing I changed the player path of an activity I did called "2 Way Street" trying to avoid a difficult crossover. After I broke the points and moved them to a different track, I found bunches of AI paths that came up "broken" in the same place. I had to go into each path editor and "re-attach" the old AI path to those points that I had changed in the player path. I have also found in testing that I am able to "move" reverse points to entirely different tracks and rebuild the path to fit in. (In case you find you can't use a certain siding). I'm going to do a "paper" on broken points at the new NEC Track Team site "Southern Nevada Holding Corporation". http://hometown.aol.com/nectrackteam/main.html Hope this helps some. Regards, Denny
LAST EDITED ON May-20-02 AT 11:19 AM (EDT)Hi, thanks Denny. Could you tell me an approximate time it will be out? I would be very interested, but theres no need to rush!!!!Ooh, just before I go, do broken paths effect the play of activities and/or anything else?Phil http://trainsimming.tripod.com
Hey Phil, I think I'll start in early june at the Southern Nevada Holding website. probably on the Utility page. After doing some testing I can see about 4 or 5 differnt "chapters" to cover it without overloading. Would need a lot of images. Off the top of my head, I dont think an activity would even load in the sim if it had a broken path. It's been posted here before that on finding a service with a broken path, by going into the path editor hitting highlight and then the broken path button will take you to it. And you can highlight the path and then just click next til you get to it. (It wont go beyond it if it's busted. I'll post when I start the broken path fix. Denny
Phil, I was finally able to duplicate what you first posted about and here is what I've found. In Settle to Carlisle there's a activity called "after the storm". 2 pieces of AI traffic that use the SAME path. Traffic and Traffic01. I found 3 switch points that were real close together that they both used. I broke the path of the middle point of Traffic. Then I backed out of path editor. the broken path healed. something to remember. then I went back in and rebroke it. And then deleted it and left path editor. All hell broke loose. many error messages. But the big point (no pun) was that along with Traffic path being broken...Traffic01 was broken as well. Because they share that Path. I went back into Traffic path editor, pulled the red string over to the point that I had deleted left path editor and Traffic was healed. But..not traffic01. But all i had to do to straighten out Traffic01 path was go into it's path editor and immediately back out. It healed as well. So, it seems to have to do with shared path points. I'm going to go ahead with the broken path fix anyway first of june. Denny
