Hello. Please can you tell me what is the difference between Speed limit signal in RE and the restricted speed zone in AE? Besides, Why I can't set the speed limit (in numbers) in a restricted speed zone in AE? Thanks

The restricted speed zone is 15. i.e. the one you set in the AE.The restricted speed, i.e. stop and go signals, is different. And you do not need to open the RE to set that, you can edit the sig file in wordpad and change it. http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/10221.htmlKevin Arceneaux

RE: Differences in RE Speed limit signal and AE restric

Differant speed limit.
You can set the restricted speed in the RE properties box without having a single signal on the entire route.
The restricted speed limit in the RE is passed into the AE.
You can have a route without any signals ,and still have restricted speed zones set to whatever speed you like , but it can only be the same speed for the entire route.
The reason its 15 km/h is thats what the default speed in the RE is .
In the below example , the restricted speed is set to 25 mph.
You can set it to whatever you like.MD

Ok, explain to me then how an activity designer is going to change this for an activity and post it? Will he need to post the track file with this? And will it not totally screw another designer who doesn't use that file?Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Differences in RE Speed limit signal and AE restric

Not sure I understand the question.
An activity designer cant change the value in the AE because its set in the RE, the same way that a route maximum speed is set in the RE.
The original poster simply asked whether the value could be changed in the RE and it can.
If you make and upload your own routes and activities then you can set this value to anything, but like most things you cant change the speed values in other peoples routes unless you upload a modifed version of the
routes ref file .

RE: Differences in RE Speed limit signal and AE restric

Sorry , typo in the above msg.
The restricted speed limit is stored in the routes trk file, not the ref file.
Was half asleep when typing the previous msg.MD
