What a LEARNING experience THIS is!Putting together my first activity with serious AI traffic for Marias 3... really trying to exploit the single track portions. Watching all the little worms crawling along the route in nigh perfect harmony had me feeling quite proud of myself. Yessirree. Coonskin, you son-of-gun... you are a genuis. I felt I was really getting the hang of this stuff in short order. Yup, all was going well until I started bombing left and right. Face-offs, snapping cars, endless reds, no-green-after-the-train-passes. Name a botch: I've now experienced it.PLUS, I'm learning WHY good ol' KUJU made some of the track arrangements they made. FURTHER, I now have a bit better understanding as to WHY some routes just can't cut it with activities. Me thinks it's three main things: 1. Oversight concerning the nigh-mandatory use of automatic switches for pass tracks.2. The way the switches will route AI paths means that some prototype track arrangements WON'T work. 3. The choice of signals used.SO, not only am I getting a rude lesson in "Activity Building for Practicing Insanity", but I also now see how my pride and joy, the KC&G route, is going to require extensive revisions should I ever renew my efforts. Given that it uses XTracks vs the advent of MSTS2 in the foreseeable future... that's becoming doubtful. But, I digress.Anyway... what a learning process this is.Andre "Tucked Tail" Ming

RE: WHEW!!!

"Fun ain't it?"Yes, it started off being a ball. MY creation unfolding in front of my eyes with clockwork precision. Too bad about the variables that truly make railroading what it is.However, I am going to apply what I'm learning to my route building, and in fact, have sounded the trumpet to other route builders:http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/9638.htmlFun? Yup... had about all this fun I can stand! Andre

RE: WHEW!!!

Andre,Welcome to the wonderful world of activity creation! I won't say that it gets easier with practice, but it does become familiar over time. And I agree on the application to the route builder's art.As for fun, sometimes it's even more fun than I can stand. That's when I go back to skinning. Take care,Henry
