Jul-01-01, 08:54 PM (EST) "Activity Manager error." Hey there. I need some help from you guys about getting my Activity to run. I seem to have done everything according to the way the computer requires, but after I click the activity on the game's activity selection screen, it starts to load for a bit, and then crashes with the error "Failed to initiate Activity manager" What does this mean, and how do I fix it? Any help is appreciated.

Jul-02-01, 00:01 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Activity Manager error." DevilJon: Before leaving the activity editor, click on the Tools menu and select "Verify starting state." This may give you a clue as to why the activity fails.Bluevoss: There's a great post in this forum on how to fix the Unpacking problem. Go to the prior message in this forum. Jul-02-01, 00:34 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Activity Manager error." I have done the verifying starting state option, which either doesn't work properly, or takes an inordinate amount of time to complete. Same goes for the timetable updating function. Hopefully someone has gone through this or knows what I'm doing wrong. thanks for your help! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-02-01, 11:23 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Activity Manager error." One thing that may cause the error is a mismatch in the parentheses in the *.ACT file. That's what I think happened to me.
Here's my experience:Just when I thought I knew what I was doing . . . BOOM.I spent what little time I had during the weeknights creating a Philadelphia - Washington Express. No stops. To start, I needed to create a new path. This took some pain, since what seems to be one of the main SB tracks out of Philly, abruptly ends after about 30 miles on what looks like should be connected. Anyway I got a path defined.I was able to slot in a number of AI trains in the other direction. This seemed to work well. Including one that waits for me as I cross from the NB track to the SB track after that above mentioned track.Sunday I spent the day adding static consists on some of the sidings. I added a few Acella sets in Philly and a few freights that look like they are going to what I think is the West Philly bypass line.I put some short cuts of freight on sidings and each added cut made for a more interesting session. Then I added a short consist on a siding near MP 58. This was my downfall. It turns out that I placed it fouling the main track. As I approach the siding I get a stop signal, get permission to pass, then find the cut. There's nothing to do. My train can't continue.I can't find any way to see or change these random consists in the Activity editor. I did open the *.ACT file and saw the consist references, but couldn't quite figure out which was the fouling cut. I resorted to deleting one at a time and restarting the sim. After about 3 misses, I took another approach, I found a switch that would take my train to the NB track north of the block and another to take my back to the SB main after. However, when I used the path editor to do this, the last stop was shown as Edgewood, no longer Washington. I switched back and Wash reappeared. It was in one of these tests that I got the Activity Manager error. In frustration I redefined the path from scratch and also deleted all of the consists (even the good ones). I finally got the path back together.I had checked the compile and save and the save a number of times during my editing and never got an error. So my questions:Is there a way to change or remove static consists? Is there a way to tell exactly where and in what direction they are placed? In the path editor, why does the end point change if I change two switches to simply go around a problem? Is there a way short of continuing the path if it suddenly loses some stations?
