I've just discovered a problem when driving in a particular area in the route I'm creating, and it seems to happen in any route I create. I don't know if it's just my computer or everbody's, so I'd appreciate it if any of you would take a little time to test the problem by creating a test route, because I'm dreading the lengthy nuisance of re-installing MSTS!Whenever I drive a train across the massive north-south RGE boundary line that separates the "-6145" range of tiles with that of "-6144" in an west-to-east direction, the subsequent terrain as of tile "-6144" is missing, i.e., the white void. However, when I save the activity once my consist has fully crossed onto "-6144" and re-load it, my terrain -- and all subsequent terrain -- is fully restored. Furthermore, I don't encounter this missing terrain problem when I drive westbound across this massive RGE boundary, i.e., from "-6144" onto "-6145".This problematic section of my route is along the south-central coast of England being the range of tiles of "14900". So, I decided to create a completely new (test) route to see if the problem has something to do with the massive RGE boundary lines, because all my tinkering was getting me nowhere.I laid track in the following four areas all together in my new test route:1) Just south of the Scottish border from tile "-6146/15003" through "-6143/15003" (east/west direction).2) Central France from tile "-6146/14683" through "-6143/14683" (east/west direction).3) South-east England from tile "-6124/14890" through "-6124/14898" (north/south direction --- it seems that the corresponding massive RGE boundary line separates the "14897" range of tiles with that of "14898").4) Quite a bit south of the Sahara Desert (i.e., western central Africa) from tile "-6146/12536" through "-6145/12536" (east/west direction). Tiles "-6144/12536" and "-6143/12536) didn't even appear in RE, plus I had fully watched the RGE progression monitor as it 'successfully' generated all of these four African tiles, had minimized the quad tree, which I had consequently saved. I re-entered the RGE to verify that the states of the two RE-missing African tiles were indeed populated, and they are indeed. My findings when driving in three of the four areas outlined above follow:a) terrain was indeed missing as of tiles "-6144" in areas #1 and #2 (Scotish border and France) when driving west to east; the terrain was restored when saving and re-loading both two activities.b) no terrain was missing in area #3 (southeast England) when driving south to north --- I really ought to test this area by driving north to south too.As mentioned earlier, the problematic tiles in area #4 (western-central Africa) didn't even appear in RE onto which I wanted to lay track in order to conduct my driving test!Incidentally, this white-void problem also happens in Explore Mode.I'm altogether wondering if a protocol (?) is missing from TS, because of the following two reasons:i) Saving and re-loading an activity is what ends up restoring the terrain.ii) The introductory message to thread #9659 within this forum (http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/9659.html) indicates that this white-void problem happens across a massive RGE north/south-running boundary dissecting the American Midwest. So, I'd really apprectiate knowing your findings, hence I thank you -- so much -- in advance! I'd like to know if you encounter white void driving west to east from any tile in the "-6145" range to any in the "-6144" range, whether your terrain is restored upon re-loading activities saved as described earlier here, and whether your RE's cannot display central-Africa-located ranges of tiles east of and including that of "-6144" generated by the RGE.Cheers, big time!
http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/Bayou/4804/ --- network serving London, Weymouth and points in between --- only five more miles' worth of track of this 150-mile long corridor must be laid!

RE: Please help re. white void -- is protocol missing i

I have heard of this before but dont know why, l know theres one in the UK runs North South and just left of Birmingham, theres a nice NW UK route, Liverpool Manchester and the Wirral and that has the white terrain problem but only going West to East, in fact its there when you start at the West end of the route.Didnt know there was one in the US, do you know the Latitude co-ords of the dividing line ?. From what l have read in the past few weeks here its seems to be a bug that cannot be overcome other than to move your route to one side, real pain for a East West route l'm sure. Other than that its like you say, save activity then reload and continue.BestMichael

See here for more info...http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=7053&forum=DCForumID6This is a MSTS bug and there is no solution other than relocating your route.

Does this region boundary happen to coincide with the Greenwich Meridian perchance, ie where west changes to east? If so, that'd be a place for me to avoid doing any routes (that's the Channel Tunnel Rail Link gone then)!Geoff M.

No, it's the massive light-grey RGE boundary line, which is about 100 miles west of the meridian.

Ah... I thought those were just rainclouds outside the window - I live about 103 miles west of the meridian!Geoff M.

Alright, thank you -- I feel better already. Moving the route: is that tricky or simple?Cheers.
