Now that I've got a handle on the track, I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm working on a route for the East Broad Top Railroad. The original is a 3' gauge steam railroad in the mountains of Pennsylvania, USA, built in 1872, closed in 1956, reopened for tourist service in 1960 and still running today on about 4 miles of the line. The unused 27 or so miles of the mainline are still in place. My route will be made accurate to the prototype. It uses DEM terrain and period track maps. It includes the total of all EBT trackage, rather than a specific time, even though not all track coexisted. For yard arrangements, etc that changed over time, they are correct to the specific references I have. It includes all branches, and will feature the Rockhill iron furnaces, but not the existing Rockhill Trolley Museum (sorry RTM members, but you can still grab a trolley and run it down the line!).Currently, the route has all terrain, water, and track in place (narrow, standard, and dual gauge). Some equipment has been made or repainted for operation (my work trains ). I hope to model all railroad structures and equipment. As will be evident from the screenshots, a lot remains to be done.I have not yet decided on any distribution means, but I would like to see some benefit directed toward the real EBT, which always needs help to keep running and keep up maintenance of the line, the locomotives, the equipment, and the shop complex. The simulation is fun, and hopefully informative, but preservation of the real one is of much higher importance. The EBT's 'modern' M-7 at Orbisonia station
Route Map from high altitude (Mount Union at top, Alvan at lower left)
The complex dual gauge yard in Mount Union (later years) where coal was cleaned, sized, and transloaded to the Pennsylvania RR.
Heading north past Saltillo station (standin), Narco spur in distance at left.
Heading RR north into Wrays Hill tunnel at Rocky Ridge
Coal loads ready to head north from station at Roberstdale.
Borrowed power heading up Coles Valley Branch
A whole bunch of coal headed to the delivery trestle at Neelyton
Narrow EBT #19 (fictitious) and Standard G&D #25 in Mount Union
(Sizes similar to EBT #11 and EBT standard gauge switcher)
Finally, some EBT hoppers with not-so-implausible-anymore N&W 100 tonners.
That's it, thanks for bearing with me, especially those on phone lines.
