Anyone like yard duty and switching? Roseville yard is %75 in trackage the rest of the route is moving along nicely, looking forward to srv Ron's I st bridge, have all approaches roughed in and waiting, the views over the summit are awsome, but im not posting any screenshots of the tracage in the pass till its complete, gotta keep you all drooling! Dave
Very well done. That's alot of track. You do realize that once you put a few objects in and add a few consists...it's going to give a few systems "frame rate hernias". Have fun. All that track (and especially those switches) give me the willys.Your gonna have some fun with AI traffic on that one!Martyn T. Griffin griffinmt@mindspring.com
Griff The AI wont be too much of a prob, if you look to the left side, off in the distance, you will see the main line bypass!!Im gonna have to provide a printable map to locate all of the various switches and track numbers!! I like a good challenge, boy would i have fun if i could model this in N , or HO scale As for object numbers, the good news is that due to the lay of this route, this yard cover parts of 3 tiles, keeping the individual tile object count per tile down to a managable rate, but yea, the details i want to fit into this route, your gonna have to have a decent vid card, mine is a g-force 4 with tv out, you should see it run on a 27" screen!!! Dave
Hate to be a party pooper, but big yards look rather dull unless they're full of cars, and filling them with cars is a processing problem.http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/12866.htmlThat's the biggest yard I have, and look at the series of screenshots for what happens with a long long train. Better to try to capture the flavor of the prototype, for example if I ever get back to the C&NW, Proviso yard will be about half length with 1/4th of the number of actual tracks. Even that will be pushing the limits, I wonder if John Milligan's backdrops could be adapted for this? You know, like a row of buildings or a bridge or something, then a backdrop with yard tracks loaded with cars painted on it. Ah, well, we're really just killing time waiting for MSTS 2 so we can actually do this stuff anyway.
On a positive note PDave... How exactly did you get all the switches to line up? Have you mastered the Dynamic Track Realm so many others have lost their minds over? I downloaded Jim's tutorial a while back and it helped more than he could ever know. Thanx for the help guys, all of ya! (Wp713) S.L.W. www.sacramentolocomotiveworks.com
actually most of them are the reverse of the stare of each siding trck and the lined up great, for thse that didnt, id use normal track to within 30 meters, place a dynamic track at each end, and work to the middle, worked great. I also used long track sections as often as possible to get the object count down, most tiles invoved have counts averaging 150 objects. I actually test drove the yard for the first time last night, and had a blast, gotta keep a quick hand on the switch button, and the throttle and brakes, gonna make for some great activities!Dave
