What does this error mean? I wanted to replace a faulty doubleslip. I can remove it(and the end-piece), but two red poles will be left. Adding regular switch causes this error. And of course tdb rebuild doesn't work.(except when I have only half of the .w files in the world folder!)The doubleslip prevents me to going to a branch in an activity. In explore mode it works. It's the doubleslip at front of the Bayonne station. If someone can fix, please let me know.the end of the message was "tdb entry will not be made".

RE: Lock point?

Could it be something todo with too many objects in that tile?
The error message sounds like a track section exists with tdb entry but it was not loaded from the w-file.
Someday someone will have to make a tool that can rebuild the tdb from the w-files without all these errors.

RE: Lock point?

Okrasa,That would not be a trivial job, for sure!!When you do the rebuild, you see the camera view zooming all over the place. It is 'almost' as if one was reading the .w files and then using the RE itself to place the tracks in the tdb by selecting the tile image for each piece it finds. Assume it also has to float through the route tsection for the dynamic trak too. This could be done by programatically moveing the mouse around and/or generating keystrokes, but it would have to be VERY accurate.Martyn T. Griffin

I agree it's a non-trivial task but I don't think it should do it through the RE cause there's where part of the trouble is.
I was more thinking like a stand-alone application reading through all the w-files and generating a tdb-file from that.
What I did with Horace, adjusting dynamic track sections to work with the standardized tsection.dat (or any other tsection.dat) is peanuts. Now, lets not steal this thread away from Teemu.
Anyone have experience similar to what Teemu has going on?

RE: Lock point?

Okrasa,I agree that I don't think the RE needs to be involved at all. My guess is that pan-zip-zoom action is just something to make it look like the program is doing something. Once the entire structure of the TDB is understood, it should be possible to rebuild it externally to the RE by reading the .W files. Before that is undertaken though, I would suggest that a program to recreate the \route\tsection.dat file from the information in the .W files would be of great value.I think that there is probably enough information available on the TDB now though that there could be a version of Horace that would update the TDB, eliminating the need to do the rebuild process through the RE, with all of the problems that can be caused by doing a rebuild.David Beach.Palouse & LewistonLock point? – image 6

I spent 10(!) hours today just trying to fix the route, mainly rebuilding. I can say that route tdb is now rebuilt at least 50 times, but 90% of them were not succesful. These errors are all in ares which haven't beed edited lately. I lost all track objects, but after ~5 hours of testing there was 7 tiles with remove_end_end thing. Only one is not yet fixed, and there was 2 tiles with lots of track(now removed) and 4 tiles were on the edge and had only a couple of track road pieces. One seemed to have 0 track objects, so I have no idea why RE crashed there.
The doubleslip is now removed, but I need to remake the spurs going to the industries. I also had to remove half of the tracks in Constable Hook, as well as CNJ freight yard:-(It would help greatly if Re would actually fix something, or at least show correctly where and what is the problem

There's no visible switch in that point, I just have removed the doubleslip and tried to put regular 10d switch there when the error popped up. The red pole was right between the rails of the new switch.

RE: Lock point?

Interesting...I have had this happen to me so many times it becomes second nature to fix it. Just last night when working on Hoodoo Pass I had this error message pop up. What I do is delete the offending track piece, then delete a few pieces on either side and place "track buffers" which make ends. I then dump out of RE, backup the route folder, then I go into the routes folder and delete all files with the extension *.bk. These *.bk files are part of the culprit because some of the data will "reload" when RE gathers its' data to build the track and world items. Without these *.bk files on rebuilding the Track database, there is no data to rebuild from previous points, therefore new ones are made. If and when I do this, that particular error goes bye, bye. I then go back into the RE and "repair" the track I altered before doing all the file deleting and track building. Now some folks say this doesn't work, it depends on the error. There are some errors that can be tolerated within the sim. I have noticed that switches with the 5° like (A1tPnt2***) have something that curses track. The regular type (A1tPnt5LftMnl or A1tPnt5rgt is more forgiving). I get many errors either in the sim or track database when incorparating the A1tPnt2_Lft* type switches. This has been brought up before, can't remember what all was said. I shy away all switches that are named A1tPnt2_5d"anything". Not too sure what happened in the case of the original poster. Sometimes duplicate track that is concealed by another same piece in the same spot causes this and by deleting other outlaying track might find the rogue piece of track...if that is the case delete them all. I have never ran across a having too many objects on a tile "error" message...yet, not saying it can happen, but I remembered reading somewhere that this does not matter...I don't know for sure. Anyway....these are my thoughts and experiences as so far. I've been building on the route for quite some time and it's still here...thank goodness!! But always backup and keep dates of these backups.Kip

RE: Lock point?

I had the 'lock point...' message, and I've a hunch it stems from the fact that the unloaded track piece is in your corresponding track-database file but not the world file. (It may be the other way around, i.e., the unloaded track piece is in your corresponding world file but not your track-database file, but somehow I don't think so.) I myself am now stuck with the following: http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/6509.html (msg #0)

For some reason RE didn't nag when I tried to change the doubleslip again. For now the junction works and looks like this. I added the eastbound platform too.
