Yes! I have finished it! If you wondered why I wasn't around anymore, here's why! Here are some pictures!Proviso Yard Trackword Completed! Lots of pictures! – image 2A big overhead of the yard!I have a picture of the Hump from TS, I hit printscreen, but now I don't know how to get it!

Lots of pictures! – image 8A little diamond at one of the North Yard sidings I found interesting... I think the contact points are actually inside the switch!Proviso Yard Trackword Completed! Lots of pictures! – image 9My only major problem. 3 of the dynamic pieces do not work and crash the computer when selected. They are on two tiles from the hump to the North Yard, and I need help! The ones not connected to anything were the ones that worked.I have lots of others of the hump and turntable and all, because I hit Print Screen in MSTS and now I can't find them
Some Stats:Time: 3 1/2 months at 1 hour per day.Track Sections: 2200! Not a single one missed! (except for space limitations!)1 track per 3 minutes.Tiles: 4, although 90% of it is on 2.Frame-rates:Great when Empty, and I haven't had time to fill it up!Length: Probably longer then many routes!
I will post more pictures when I have time.If there is any particular spot you want to see, just ask! Thanks!

RE: Proviso Yard Trackword Completed! Lots of pictures

Hey Dave, looks great man! Could you post a pic of each spot where there is a Metra station? BTW, the round house is long gone from Proviso.

I think North Platte (Nebraska) holds (or held) that honor.

Thank you, one and all!In answer to some of your questions,Yes Proviso was the biggest yard in the world when it was built. It is no longer. The main tile has about 1200 track pieces. The roundhouse is long gone, but the Turntable isn't!I will be starting scenery for the rest of the route soon, because right now there are no stations. Now I jsut have California Yard! I also used so many markers that USAPhotomaps ran out of room! I would like to put in a few containers, but just a few. Thanks!

Dynamic TrackI suspect that somehow you may have reached the limit for the number of dynamic pieces on a tile, or those new dynamic pieces may be starting too close to the edge of a tile, or perhaps bridgeing the corner of a tile to end on another tile. Any of those things will blow you out of the water and we don't know how to correct it without adjusting the track locations.I ran into this in four locations on the RMD-4 and was lucky enough in 3 instances to fix it without drastically changing the track location. However, the 4th spot, which is just off the reverse curve west of Pottsville loop, required shortening this right-hand curve and running the tanget slightly northwest of it's actual location. It is noticeable if one is picky enough to compare this location with aerials.J. H. Sullivan

RE: Proviso Yard Trackwork Completed! Lots of pictures

WOW !This looks like "Switchers Paradise" ! Lost some DYN tracks ? Look for them underground !One of the problems in the making I can see is trying to fill all these yards with loose Consists ? On the subject of "HUMPS", I put an idea to Roman about creating short straights which bend gently upward and downward to start track gradients with instead of having to use multiple smaller track sections. Appears that he is already working on some for use on his yards Humps ! But using them, a loco front-coupler pushing a train over them and uncoupling some of the leading waggons will stop them dead in their tracks, their brakes coming on ?Also the pushing loco will be able to throw only the next switch ahead of the Hump !Take Care, O t t o.

I used mainly 6 point turnouts. For the Hump I needed to use twelve points or more. And I feel silly asking, but what do you mean by 2, 3, and four tangent track?
Thanks!

Stuff like a4t100mstrt.s; use of multi-track sections can do a lot to cut down on the number of shape files to load. Ditto for using the whole turnout pirces Okrasa built for 3d and 6d instead of the numerous individual pieces. It take work to squeeze out the unneccesary track sections but there are times when it can make enough of a difference that you'll want to do it.

Yep! I did all that! I love using those alt500mstrs!Worse come to worse, I could always rip out some of the older pieces and replace them with newer Xtracks pieces. I could also use more dynamic track for odd length straights, and those things might cut out about 70 pieces. Thanks!
