Colleagues,Does anyone know if the new addition to Marias Pass (V-2) requires X-tracks or not. I went ahead and downloaded it, but there is no readme file in either zip. I don't use X-tracks, and I suppose there is a cadre of others who don't, so it would be nice to have this data available - as it usually is - before downloading.J. H. Sullivan

No, XTracks is not required for Whitefish 5 (while compatible). No Readme was supplied at the top ZIP level, correct.
But once you run the EXEs, the autoextractor screens tell enough.Next time I'll state :
does not require XTracks, nor Newroads, nor YTracks, nor DualTracks, nor ScaleRail, nor ConBuilder, nor Route_Riter, nor WinRAR, nor TSUtils, nor anything else than a full MSTS1.2 and a reasonable puter Jokes aside, yes, I'll include a Readme above the EXE level.Love and Peace

RE: New Whitefish Material in Library

My question is which version is closer to the actual route. In version 5 there are sidings that are not present in earlier version. This also applies to the placement of signals.Claude Debnam NS Piedmont Division Raleigh EastNew Whitefish Material in Library – image 3

RE: New Whitefish Material in Library

Are you referring to siding NAMES, or actual sidings ?
Well, WF5 has been largely made/reworked after real USAPhotomaps data.
Still, some very few sidings are in excess, or too long (Bakker gravel siding, which was wrongly named Ripley in WF2). Others were named, or renamed, after BNSF data. Brimstone is double, error, there is only one (MP 1252.8).
But a real railroad evolves over years, too.
BNSF have meanwhile added tracks, probably removed others...Signals have been added in the tunnel, made guesstimated sense for safety reasons.
No pretention to have all signals where they are on BNSF, rather to ease activity creation.Remember, as much fun it makes to stay close to the real world, it's a SIMULATION and a GAME !What WF5 offers, and lower numbered versions not, is 65 miles UP track ! And this is still in operation.
WF6 (for XMas ?) is going to feature more (Stryker-Eureka in full, more (?)...Love and Peace

RE: New Whitefish Material in Library

Sorry, I'm a little confused. Is this a route that starts in Whitefish, or does it include all of Marias Pass?If it does include Marias Pass, which version is necessary for the install? Thanks!Shawn

RE: New Whitefish Material in Library

Starts in Whitefish WESTWARDS.
Replaces/extends Whitefish2 (Chuck Dollins/Batt Smith).
Continues Marias/Marias31, does not include it.Features the 185 miles BNSF mainline from Whitefish to Sandpoint, and 65 miles UP Sandpoint-Bonners Ferry-Eastport-Kingsgate (Canadian border) Love and Peace

Well, this hot question was already answered in another thread http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/24324.html#2And no worry, WF5 will not overwrite friend Hawk's WF3 !
Otherwise he'd shoot me dead ! So, you can now enjoy 4 different White Fishes ! Love and Peace

RE: New Whitefish Material in Library

When I go to use Whitefish_5 I get an error message: "Failed to open texture file STARSKY.ACE". And World train initialization failed. Then MSTS crashes. Where can I get STARSKY.ACE?

RE: New Whitefish Material in Library

Well, it is clean.
The downloads are only 32+21 MB, not that much.
If you really have trouble to get it from train-sim.com, you can also fetch it from the-train.de

Hi, Oldiedaddy, always a pleasure to see you on the forum. The grades and track work are exceptional on this route. Has the author done other routes of same quality?I also liked the default equipment to get us started. I imeadiately hacked the addon activities inserting my favorite engines, saving them under simular names. It is so nice to not have to scroung all over the internet for special nondefaults and trouble shoot their installations to get to the point of useing ones own favorites in otherwise good activities. It has been so long since I ran a conventional activity I had to search out the post about how to make the unpacker work but the head start the activities gave me was worth it.Have a nice dayWild Willy the Wacko
