Apr-12-02, 05:03 PM (EST) "Problem with Bicentennial U36B" This is one of the best models I have seen yet for MSTS. Outstanding job! Only problem is, when I install and try to run it, I get the dreaded "Send error message to Microsoft?" message. I have made other consists with the U36 that do the same thing, and have checked the model using Consist Builder. It hasn't indicated any problem. I can build a consist in Consist Builder, but not using MSTS activity editor. I've already downloaded and installed it twice, and still no luck. Can anyone help? Apr-13-02, 05:23 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Problem with Bicentennial U36B" Well, at least I'm not alone. There have been a few others, too. Seems like about half of Ken Martello's models cause the same trouble. That's a shame, as they are all excellent. Hope someone has an answer. There are lot of knowledgeable people here who I'm sure have figured it out. Happy Training,Kevin Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-14-02, 06:47 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Problem with Bicentennial U36B" Hi Kevin,About half my models cause trouble? Since I've done around 100 repaints, which fifty are we talking about? Have you even sent me one e-mail requesting help? I don't remember seeing any. Maybe you should ask for help before trashing my work.

>help before trashing my work. Amen, Ken! I normally do not get into anything resembling a flame war, but it certainly would have been more courteous to have contacted the author of any add-on you had problems with BEFORE making a public announcement that their add-ons are the problem. It is this type of attitude that seems to have ruined the TrainSim community since the end of last year. I, for one, am disappointed in the direction things seem to be headed in the community.John D. Apr-15-02, 01:22 AM (EST) 9. "RE: Problem with Bicentennial U36B" Ken, all I can say is "Amen" to what you mention in "Trashing my work". I for one, would also like to hear a bit of appreciation for work done, instead of the constant whining and Public trashing. I agree that the specific person that has a problem should rather E-mail with a request regarding it. If need be then we can post a fix on the Forum. After all our E-mail addresses are on the top LH side.

Apr-15-02, 05:46 AM (EST) 10. "RE: Problem with Bicentennial U36B" I did not AT ALL mean to "trash your work" (or anyone else's), and I apologize if I gave that impression. Your work is excellent, (and Alabama's as well)and I regularly use many of your models, including the CB&Q GP30, CB&Q gondola, CB&Q caboose, and others. I can't remember exactly which ones I have had trouble with, but one I tried many times that always locked me up was the CB&Q 86' auto parts boxcar. The same problem I'm having with the U36 occurred with every version of that car I installed. I have almost 300 engines in MSTS that I have managed to install without trouble, so these were puzzling. I did not send an email on these problems, as I simply chalked it up to my dumb luck, and moved on to other models. I did not expect anyone to jump all over me for posting a simple question. I have posted others and received excellent help and advice without being beat up.Again, I apologize for offending anyone with my questions or comments. >boxcar. Hi Kevin,Apology accepted. As for the 86' CB&Q: Have you tried re-downloading it? I think I went through three versions of it before I got to the final version. Perhaps you have an old version of it. The updates occurred only a few days apart. If you still have problems let me know (e-mail). I made some changes to the shape file, with Patrick Camaro's permission. Maybe my editing caused a problem that happens on certain systems.BTW, I don't have multiple systems to try out my re-paints on. The only way that I can be made aware of any problem is though communication, preferably e-mail. Fortunately I have received many compliments and few complaints. I'm very flattered by the positive response that my work gets.

Apr-15-02, 01:21 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Problem with Bicentennial U36B" Thanks. I thought I had tried downloading and installing it again with each update you sent, but I may have missed the last one. I will give it another try when I get home tonight. Is the version in the file library only the most current one?Happy Training,Kevin Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
