What causes this?

My most recent additions to my TRainset folder crash MS Act. Ed. when I try to select them for a consist. They work fine in ConBuilder, though.

Apr-13-02, 01:08 AM (EST) 2. "RE: HELP! Texture prob with U36 B." I get the same texture problem with the Conrail and the regular Seaboard versions. I reported the problem to John Peterson (the developer) of these fine engine on Thursday. He is looking into it. Hopefully, there is a fix or resolutions since these are really fine engines.I do not get the problem you have using these engines in the Activity Editor. They work fine for me in AE and in ConBuilder.Dudley Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-13-02, 08:42 AM (EST) 4. "RE: HELP! Texture prob with U36 B." You are probably right about things too close together. In the notes that John and I exchanged, he mentioned he uses a file called GLAZING.ACE for the cab windows. The blurred (or striped) images occur in the same place as where the GLAZING file maps windows for the cab. Perhaps the size of the GLAZING ace has to be just barely smaller than the cab size. Hopefully John will figure it out. However, this image problem apparently doesn't appear for all people.Dudley Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-13-02, 04:48 PM (EST) 5. "RE: HELP! Texture prob with U36 B." Hey guys,
I am aware of the problem now and I will try to have a patch out today. A couple people have volunteered to help me test it (since it doesn't show up on my system or the systems of the beta testers). I will try to post something ASAP!Thanks for your patience!Highball!John D. Peterson

Apr-13-02, 08:42 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Fix posted....hopefully! LOL!" Hey Guys,
Anyone that wants to give them a try, here are four updated shape files for the ailing U36Bs:http://www.alabamarailfan.com/msts/cr2971.s
http://www.alabamarailfan.com/msts/sbd5768.s
http://www.alabamarailfan.com/msts/scl1748.s
http://www.alabamarailfan.com/msts/scl1776.sI was finally able to duplicate the problem on my system by adjusting the graphics settings in the game to 16 bit color (thanks to John F. Roth for this tip). Why it didn't show up in 32 bit color baffles me.Feel free to post and comments, good or bad, about these fixes! If this seems to fix it, I will update the install packages and re-upload them.Thank you for your patience and I apologize about the problems. Guess we're all learning together here, huh?Highball!John D. Peterson

Apr-13-02, 09:09 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Fix posted....hopefully! LOL!" Frankly, I don't know. I have never had a problem with the activity editor, so I don't really know where to begin to fix such a thing. It has worked for me from the start:

Apr-14-02, 11:29 AM (EST) 12. "RE: Fix posted....hopefully! LOL!" Did you edit any of the files?.Check the eng file to make sure you didn't delete a line or something.Anything as small as a number or letter bing out of place will cause it to crash. Apr-14-02, 08:37 PM (EST) 13. "RE: Fix posted....hopefully! LOL!" No, I haven't altered any files. I tried them as installed. So far, the affected engines are the Green Goat, the BNSF painted ACF centerflow, the SCL1748, and SCL1776. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-14-02, 09:03 PM (EST) 14. "RE: Fix posted....hopefully! LOL!" Sounds like you may be a tad premature to blame the U36Bs, since you added those other units as well. I would try removing them one at time to see which one is the offending unit.Highball!John D. Peterson

Apr-15-02, 08:04 AM (EST) 15. "RE: Fix posted....hopefully! LOL!" JOhn the only thing i "Blamed"on the U36B was the texture problems, which I have not yet had time to try the fix for. I said I had others that didn't work, before i put in the36B, I wasn't blaming that on them. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
