Apr-04-02, 07:09 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Big Boy" Sorry Dude!
You are the 15th guy to ask this week! Your bad luck...
For anyone else who "just has to know", It'll be ready when it is ready!
People posting on an almost daily basis asking us when things will be done tend to irritate us!
The Big Boy and the AEM7 will be done when we get them done!
This is FREEWARE and we all have lives... so we don't work on it 7x24....
Have a good day!------Chuck Schneider---------

Apr-04-02, 08:36 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Big Boy" Its to bad about that but I dont think everyones fears about TA will happin.
I am just going to wait till TA has there anouncement on there site as to what they are going to do.. to many people already seem to have the idea that they are going paywear and TA hasent even said that they are going to do that yet so I for one will not even guess as to what they are doing.
in the morning I was planning to send a 30 Buck donation to one of there Groups that they were asking us to do so and I am also planning to send a 50 dollar donation to the Museim in Denver that is restoring the Real 4005 Big Boy since they were put 1 million in debt just moving the Big Boy to its new location. Apr-04-02, 10:02 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Big Boy" LAST EDITED ON Apr-04-02 AT 10:03 PM (EST)Hey, I know "When is the BigBoy going to be finished?" gets annoying, but I check every couple days to see if you've finished it yet. And what do you expect with all the teaser shots? It probably looks ready to roll to most people who don't know how much work is still left after the engine is modeled and textured. Look at it this way, a lot of people are anxiously awaiting its release. What if no one cared? Then you'd be wasting your time, so be happy when you see someone ask on the forums (I don't think they should inundate you with e-mails). It just means your work is highly anticipated and appreciated! It is by me.MikeMessage Areas - "Big Boy" – image 6

Apr-04-02, 10:41 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Big Boy" I don't know people but I LOOOOOOOVE when it takes long, the LONGER the BETTER!!!! In fact, I was even pissed at NALW for NOT taking long before they released Genesis, few things would've been done better. Told 'em: "guys slow down your horses, take
another month or three, make your self a big pot of coffee, turn on that lamp above your computer desk and see how you can bring the Genesis to the quality level of your F40". But no, in reply those guys were screaching: "no we wanna release it, we wanna release it! Ahhh!! let us release it! don't wanna hold it up we want it up in the library!! AHHH!! We'll release it tomorrow before the sunrise!!!"I myself have locos that I haven't used more then twice, I got stuff to play with, if I ask the guy: "guy do me a new loco, I want it by tomorrow", the guy will give me a crap on the stick.
So I would have a HUGE BUNCH of "crap-on-stick" locos that I don't even have time for. Whatta piece of excitement! OK, rushing designers sure is BAD, but slowing them down and make 'em work harder isn't any better as it was in case with Genesis Them capricious designers got pissed again. The best way is to let 'em do whatever in hell's heaven they want and not to bother with questions AT ALL, just let them work in piece and harmony with whatever they want to have harmony with, they know.BTW, let me break the rule one last time and then you'll never hear my buggin again: would you please not release Big Boy before late July??!! I think that's the amount of time needed to complete the work.GOOD stuff takes LONG. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-05-02, 00:00 AM (EST) 14. "RE: Big Boy" Alex,I thought the NALW Genesis release was excellent. NALW did take their time to release it, and in a multitude of liveries, once the "seam" problem was fixed. I run the NH 228/229 regularly. I happen to think it's neat; a 2000's blast from the past, if you will. The NALW guys even broke up the files for the bandwidth-restricted so everyone had a fighting chance to download it. And they included an installer for the pc-challenged. What don't you like about it, other than the fact that the manufacturer didn't make it the prettiest loco to cyber-render?Thank you, NALW, for an excellent rendition of a loco which is physically challenged by it's very nature. I am always looking forward to your next release, good work!John Roth

Apr-04-02, 10:30 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Big Boy" LAST EDITED ON Apr-04-02 AT 10:31 PM (EST)Alright it is pretty clear that a few people like to know when things are going to be out.. nothing to get bent out of shape about. When you tell people that something that a lot of people like is coming , they are going to want to know when it is coming out. You just got to be patient with people because they are excited about the up coming locomotive. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Apr-05-02, 04:59 PM (EST) 16. "RE: Big Boy" Hey all!
First off, thanks for the comments and compliments on our work! It really means a lot to us!
Just wanted to take a minute and address some of the issues brought up here. As for the length of time to build models (which seems to the driving issue here), it does take a while to do. And since no two people lives are exactly the same, the time from start to finish can vary greatly. A lot of other factors come into play as well - like familiarity of the units, how readily available documentation is, etc etc. And of course, how anal the builder wants to be when it comes to detailBelieve me, i understand how hard it can be to wait for something you're really looking forward to. The wait can be just as bead for the designers too - believe me, we want to run these locos in the sim just as much as you do!
As for the "requests", i personally do mind the occasional, polite questioning on status of something. I do not care for any demanding or "nagging" posts, but i just usually don't respond to those. Not meant to offend anyone, but if someone "demands" something, my intial response is not very "polite", shall we say, so i figure i'd rather just let it go than start a war or anything by a gut reaction. Besides, those people probably don't mean to sound angry, just happens to come out that way i guess.
As for teaser pics, i have also learned my lesson with teaser shots with the F40 - i posted some early pics of the development way back in the day, then my modelling program went belly up after an upgrade!! So, i try not to post any teaser shots anymore unless the project is getting very near completion. Just in case my PC wants to stop working again....
Anyway, that's my two cents... ------ BUZZ ------

Apr-05-02, 11:35 PM (EST) 17. "RE: Big Boy" Thanks, Buzz! Well said.
Please keep your PC up-'n-runnin'!
Alex, no response? Are you still disappointed with the NALW Genesis release? You made that pretty clear... what don't you like? Just curious... I think it's great.
