RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.1

Just tried it on my old system, not really much difference from the beta versionTo remove your old BVE 4 beta version, click on the dialog box with (M) in it (as it will come up with junk script)Also the Uchibo Line v9 for BVE 4 doesn't do a clean remove either,
had to remove it manually after, before installing Uchibo 10No problems with installation at allAs for new features ...Now installs the English string.INI file as default...Zooms into timetable IF INSTALLED otherwise no timetable... (Use the dodge I described in one of my old posts) which is ...http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID17/1869.htmlStill will NOT run BVE 1 (.RW) files, so it looks like Mackoy has dumped his old syntax for good ....Version runs on XP and ME OK with no problems

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.1

Many compatibility issues from the beta are still there.
But the error display is more verbose, helping developers to update their routes.

Wooow!!
All my problems trying to install BVE 4 were finished.
Finally got rid of that pesky message generated by the
former BVE 4 beta, saying that .msi installer could not
be opened, forcing me to install the japanese support.
With this new version, BVE 4.1 can be installed easily,
because the core is in english, Thank God!!!
Many thanks for the two presents, Mr. Mackoy.
The brand new .msi file and the..... BVE 4.1!!!

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

I get garbled sound, just like the Beta. It goes away if I click and hold something open, but that's not much good. Since my computer is only 3 months old, I'm not too happy. I've got a GeForce FX5200XT AGP 128 MB graphics card. I assume that handles the sound since there is no mention in the summary specs about a separate sound card. Does this mean I need a separate sound card? Or maybe new drivers?-- Al

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

Hi Al,
If yourPC is only a couple of months old it almost certainly has XP and SP1 installed, so the first question is have you got SP2 as well? The drivers for your GeForce 5200 should be 53.03, if so they won't be a problem. You need to navigate to system information and run DxDiag to see if you have ANY problems with the video/audio operations. If you do post back what they are. DirectX 9.0b or c will, I expect, also be installed. If you do not have any of these items post back. Also can you say what CPU/memory size you have.Tony H

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

Hi Tony,The diagnostics passed OK. I haven't installed SP2 yet. I have DirectX 9.oc. CPU is Athlon 3400 with 512 MB. I had this same problem with Beta 4 on my older Dell.Nothing's playing in the background except Norton AV and a couple of spyware thingies. I'll run the virus scan.---------------------

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

Al, with that machine you should have NO problems! When you ran the .msi installer for the new BVE4, did you go into Control Panel and remove the previous beta version of BVE4 first? If not I would suggest that you remove whatever version of BVE4 that you have now got installed, and then re-run the new BVE4 .msi again. And I don't think that I would let Norton run in the background either whilst installing. If you suspect that I'm not a devotee of Norton - You're correct. Can you switch Norton off and try running BVE without it (just to prove a point)?Tony H

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

Thanks, Tony. I'll try that. I originally just let Beta install where it would, and did the same with BVE 4. Then I reused the Uchibo and simply copied over all the files. Of course the problem was there with Beta, before BVE 4.

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

No luck. It occurs to me that MSTS works fine, Trainz works fine, BVE 2.6 works fine. My problem is with BVE Beta 4 and BVE 4. The last two use .NET, the others don't. Is .NET the problem?

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

Hi Al, I don't think that .net will be the problem, because if it isn't ok then BVE4 would not even start. It should be v1.1 available from Microsoft. On the video side you could try adjusting the Performance and Quality settings to High Performance. Navigate to Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced>GeForce>dropdown box shows options. You might also like to try letting the applications control the other settings by ticking the two boxes. In addition to the GeForce tab there is also Troubleshooting. You could try turning down the hardware acceleration a little. The Fx5200 isn't too capable of sharing its services with fast machines, which you have.Tony H

Well... i suffer your problem too, Alfred...I have tested the new version for 3 nights...Running BVE 4.1 at full screen, randomly a loud buzzing is overlapped to normal sounds. This usually happens after a while, at a certain speed and in different way with different routes. The only route working perfectly on my system is the new Uchibo 10 using Mackoy's latest train.I've tried every possible DirectX setting (I have 9.0c too), updated video and sound drivers... nothing to do!The buzz seems to sleep a while only in windowed mode...My audio device is not a sound card, but a CMI8738/C3DX PCI C-MEDIA chipset on the motherdoard (Asus A7V333).Luigi Cartello

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

Tony - I turned down the acceleration a notch - no improvement. I didn't the two boxes to tick.Luigi - I found that it works perfectly in window mode. It's almost OK in 800x600. The sound vibrates at 1024x768. Perhaps the card is overburdened.-- Al---------------------

>Does this mean I need a separate sound card? Or maybe new drivers? If you got some problems with your sound, it means that something is running in the background, switching quickly between programs. It may be a virus...
There are no reason about separate sound card, build-in mothercard's sound card work exactly as a separate card, it's only a bios choice. In fact, separate cards are only better in sound processing (5.1...7.1 multichannels).
It's certainly a drivers' or directX 's problem. Verify with DirectX Diagnostic Tool (DxDiag.exe).All the best.

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

Have you got a text file about the new commands which I can use in the BVE v4.1? Like .brightness and so on.
I found a csvcommands.zip file, but it contains only the commands to BVE 2.6.Thanks:IST

RE: Finally Mackoy has released BVE v4.0

You can go to http://www.trainsimcentral.co.uk/ and navigate to BVE help. There are some BVE4 commands there, but nobody as yet has produced a total list as it's still very new. You can also look through the posts of the last week to see some more changed syntax for BVE4.Tony H
