Hi,Just been playing around with BVE 4 Beta, (which I have only just Installed on my new laptop), and have come up with two easy modifications to BVE 2 routes to make the playing experience a little better in BVE 4.First of all I copied all my BVE 2 route files into another folder called BVE 4 Route Files. (this means if you make any changes, it doesn't interfere with the BVE 263 route files). Then I made the following changes ....1Q. BVE .CSV route files not showing station names in the "Jump To Station" Dialog ..1A. Usually the fault is that the original author used .STATION instead of .STA in his route file. Simply remove TION from the route file where it turns up. (for example Gaku's Iida Line route files suffer from this) ...so it's from this ..... 17200, .Station Nanakubo; 08.2440; 08.2600; 1; ATS;,To This ....... 17200, .Sta Nanakubo; 08.2440; 08.2600; 1; ATS;, 2Q. NO TIMETABLE SHOWN ...2A. This is caused by BVE 4 not using the original syntax but theres a quick, easy and neat solution to this. Simply alter the station names from this format ...17200, .Sta Nanakubo; 08.2440; 08.2600; 1; ATS;,To this ... 17200, .Sta Nanakubo (Arr 0824 Dep 0826); 08.2440; 08.2600; 1; ATS;,where every station command turns up. Then while your stopped at a station simply right click the "Jump To Station" dialog and theres your timetable. If the train doesn't stop at a particular station it will be greyed out, but you can still add (PASS) at the end of the station name in the route file ..... (I think some route developers could use this as a stop gap measure, rather than using a .BMP file) What do some of you route developers think ???John.

Hi John,That second suggestion is a neat little trick, I hadn't thought about that one, cheers for that, I'll remember that when I continue converting the Bay Park routes to BVE4 version (pain in the arse as I'm having to convert from rw format to csv format).Sacha
www.superduper.eclipse.co.uk SLUGS !!! He created slugs, they can't speak, they can't hear, they can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic here? If I was the creator of the universe, I wouldn't fluff around with butterflies and daffodils, I'd start with lasers, 8 o'clock, day 1, POW !!!!
That's a good suggestion John. I only use BVE4, and with only Steve Greens class 323 compatible with all of the new features the other UK trains need updating before the timetable can be displayed. I think that a lot of developers are in the process of revising their trains, but BVE4 final may have other new features which may necessitate more changes to the cabs, so the devs may be holding back for awhile. This idea will be worthwhile, like you say "just as a stopgap" until it's all sorted.Tony H Midlands 25Kv
