MTA Screenshot/Photo Contest

Metro North, NYCT, LI Bus, Bridges and Tunnels, or a part of a different MTA. I'll start it off:

The uses new R143 equipment on weekends only. In a few years, the line will be 100% R160, on weekends and weekdays. I took this picture at Metropolitan Avenue, the northern terminal of the line.

As I said, any MTA, not just New York. I need judges for this contest. The prize will be announced when when the winner is announced. The contest will last for two weeks before the winner is announced. If there are not enough entries by enough people, the contest will be dropped.

Not entirely correct. Check the car behind NJ Transit GP40PH-2 4112 and you will see a blue Metro North stripe. I presume that's a Shoreliner II with Comet I or II NJ Transit cars.

On November 3, 2003, the last train of Redbirds retired from service. Luckily, I had a day off and was on that train as it made its way from Times Square to Willets Point.

This picture depicts the train at the final stop at Willets Point in Queens.
Fortunately, the redbirds will be making one final run over the IRT mainlines this coming Saturday and Sunday. It will leave from the shuttle platform at Grand Central, and a few surprises are planned. (Translation: Dyre Avenue Tunnel, South Ferry Inner, Shuttle-Lex, Shuttle-Broadway, CITY HALL LOOP!, etc...)

Those of you who will be on the Redbird Farewell train on Saturday or Sunday should bring your camera, as I'll be taking my share of photos and posting a good deal of them here. Get some good shots on the trip, post them in this contest, and see if you win. The prize will be the distinction of winning this contest and the liberty to acknowledge it in your signature. SCREENSHOTS COUNT IN A SEPARATE CATEGORY FROM PHOTOS! Here's one to lead off the screenshot portion of this contest: a Metro North M3a departing Washington Union Station. Note: Those of you who do not have these cars can still post screenshots with other equiptment and they will be counted the same. I've only seen one non-New York MTA entry up to this point, and I've said many times that they are allowed.

Ahh, it's a good thing you stayed home John, the trip has been cancelled. It's been rescheduled to the 20th and 21st. I left my house at 9:40 today. There was no bus for the next 10 minutes so I walked all the way to the Flushing Main St. Station. Boarded a 7 Train, and arrived at Grand Central at 10:20. Thought I'd never make it to the platform before departure time, but I was really dissapointed when I asked a TO if this was where the Redbird Trip were to depart, some guy on the shuttle overheard us and said, "You mean the Excursion Trip? That's been cancelled!" All I got out of it was a paper notice with the same description of the March of Dimes trips, except the second paragraph says, "December 20 and 21 will find the Redbird cars running on the mainline..."MTA Going your way for 100 years. 1904-2004
