Sometimes when you have an idea, you just gotta follow it out to see if it works. I can always sleep tomorrow night. Below is a couple of quick screen grabs from RE of my latest efforts.Slowly, the North Arkansas route is getting there...Andre

That is exactly, what I am building on my HO scale model railway at home these days, apart from the fact that they are made of styrofoam and gypsum, but anyway...Great job there, looking good. I especially like the texture of the trees there!Cheers!SebastianFeel free to IM me on: sstyrnol@hotmail.com

Very nice, Andre. I know that's not the entire route, but it looks to me like you're doing more than just "getting there." As far as sleep goes, I agree there are times when creativity and accomplishing a goal can be more refreshing than sleep, but that only goes so far...Andy

Looks good, Mr. Ming! Jerry could have used those on the Clinchfield routes heading into all of the tunnel portals. Speaking of that, would it be difficult to transform that from a cut into an actual tunnel? That texture matches pretty well to what the inside of a tunnel looks like here on the Clinch. Anyway, good work--people like you make me wish (just for a second) that I still had the sim! MSTS happily uninstalled since June, 2003

Thanks to all for shoutin' "sic 'em". Sometimes we route builders need to hear from the troops to keep us going. LOTS of work to even produce a short (33 mile) route basically single handedly.Various replies:Mark: I gave up on using transfers to simulate rock faces. What you're looking at is a 3D object that I've textured with my own textures. This is my first successful attempt at making rock objects. Believe it or not making a rock is not easy. (Unless you're God!) Neat thing about these rocks is that they still look good when you're close enough (in the train) to reach out and touch them! I can FINALLY have close-clearance rock cuts.Dave: The bridge is a model of a very, very lightweight bridge that was on the prototype during the era I'm modeling. It was replaced in 1907 with a sturdier unit. As per the protoytpe, the model turned out looking very "lacy" and delicate looking. Clayton: I never heard the story on why you've had MSTS "happily uninstalled since June of 2003"... but I'm sure you have your reasons. Personally, I think that MSTS 1 has essentially already been upgraded to MSTS 2 by the third party add-on community. Yes, I think that highly of the many excellent people that have taken this sim to the current levels it enjoys. Without their probings and explorations, NONE of the above would have been possible. If you haven't had a chance to experience "state of the art" MSTS on a current computer, there's no comparison to what we had a year ago. It really is like a completely different version. You can read more detailed comments I've made along this line here:http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID18/228.htmlAgain, to all I say thanks. Today the rocks... tomorrow the WORLD...
