Damn, those trestles look familiar. Glad you were able to use them in the route. (At least they look like the ones I did for you.)Near MP 23.0 on The Cal-P – image 10

Paul,The bridge lengths should be listed in the track profile. The 1977 issue I was using for the Shasta Route has all the bridges listed. But that's not much help if the bridge was replaced before 1977!
I'm gonna have to buy a new 'pooter before I get this route. It will be a slide show on this one David

Hey thanks David.I'm afraid the bridge was replaced..though Erik has found some new info on it. It is a little shorter...around 77 feet long I think. (1950's?)This route will not be like the GM&O ROUTE. The FPS won't be that low, and we plan on keeping the detail coming too. Around 20 FPS average we hope..and so far so good. The biggest trouble is the high poly cars and engines from the library. Although they look great, lesser poly cars are needed on all routes to keep detail level and FPS up. I can do any route with a FPS of 30, and run a 50 car train and 4 locos and drop it to 15 FPS minus. That happened because of the 50 varied high poly count cars. With all the work Rory, Erik and the gang at SLW have done prior to my arrival, this CAL-P line should be a dandy of a route, and I'm excited about it.

I have been following the progression of this line for a while, and wow! can't wait for it to get into our little hands .... Will we have to pay a little for it, or will it be free to download? Either way, it looks VERY good.... and you can NEVER have enough searchlightsNear MP 23.0 on The Cal-P – image 28Hauling America one pixel at a time

Bill,
As much as we may have wanted in the begining to make this a free edition, that is no longer possible. We have put in too much time and effort and money into this route to make sure that everything is where it is supposed to be and as you can see in a few posts up someone appears to not be happy because one of the bridges is too long. As much as I hate to say it, there will probably be mistakes that some may pick up on. We have purchased every book that we can get our hands on of anything relating to railroading in the East Bay during the 1950s.
(These books cover the SP, Key System and the Sacramento Northern to name a few.)
I have managed to talk my way into the cabs of engines for rides, have ridden Amtrak many times and take drives for research. Rory aka WP713, takes day trips up and down every sections of track in the area, including the street trackage in and around the Heinz and Bayer plants(I think in the mid 1950's the Bayer plant was somethng else). I want to publicly thank him for all the research he has done. Paul is doing an excellent job laying the track while living in the South.I appologize about the book. This route will be payware and it will be including the appropiate rolling stock and motive power for the 1950s.

Well it is a group effort, right? When we started talking about this project, for some reason I got pulled into the whole SP steam era/ history locating fever. I couldn't stop until I knew every single inch of the line. Including becoming friends with an ex-SP conductor who hired on out of Port Costa around 44'. All the pictures, maps, and information I found was just more fuel for the fire I guess. Erik, John, Paul, Wayne, Jim, Tark, and Chris... Just to name a few, have all helped in many ways to make this route what it will surely be, a masterpiece!

thats a shame about the payware thing.. now you'll have to settle for maybe 1/4 of the MSTS community able to enjoy all the hard work you put in it (1/4 is probably optimistic too)... Now Thats a shame.
