Hey guys a friend of mine came across this photo and was curious what kind of units these were?? They almost look foreign yet there in SP Paint? Any help would be great.Ryan
Ryan: The front unit #9002 was built in 1961 as a road unit. The other unit #9012 was built in 1963 as a road switcher and rode on Alco trucks. The D&RGW also bought 3 1961 units #'s 4001-4003 which they sold to SP in 1964.Cyndi
Krauss?Sounds Deutsch (german) to me.------------------------------------------------------------"Don't look at the trombones. It only encourages them." -Strauss
That's because it is German. The full name is Krauss Maffei AG(Aktiengesellschaft), well, at least at the time. The two firms married each other I think in 1931; Krauss were based in Munich and Maffei in Allach.Tonka.
