So where do you have your control room set up? In the basement, in a dark corner? In a train room, or in a living room? Post your pic's of where you play MSTS.When we lived in AZ, we didn't have the room we have here, so our "office" was also our living room. But now with the extra bedroom, the office is a nice place to relax, surf the net, play MSTS, or sit back in the recliner and listen to Prarie Home Companion. On the walls are photos of trains I have taken, as well as other photos and train start I have picked up at antique malls and off ebay, including a 1950's Superchief ad.30 MSTS CD's are at my disposal, and with a 17" flat screen monitor, hours of MSTS are no problem. What you can't see on the other wall, is about 130 NASCAR trucks by Hot Wheels and Winners Circle. So far, as best I know, I have all that were made with the exception of a few put out this year that I have yet to find.I got things started, now it is your turn. So far, two photos, and two shots of drinks by the workstation. You guys are batting ZERO! You're both decertified in Office Safety and Basic Computer Use. You probably don't even have the required "Do Not Discuss Classified Information on This Telephone" sticker on your phones. Disgraceful.Pop (at work, can you tell?)

Do people still use mousepads? I thought optical mice came in a year ago. I am ashamed that mine still has a cable, while most people I know have wire free stuff. I thought the US was using cutting edge technology, but perhaps I am not so far behind.David

Couse I still use a mouse pad, its soft on your hand instead of the hard desk. The mouse also seems to glide easier. Heres my old workstation. The only thing different now is the P4 tower in place of the old AMD tower shown here: btw, sorry is such a bad photo, bad light... tried to touch it up a bit.Your MSTS "Control Room"… Post Your Pic's – image 13~The only way to ship~

Dragging ones mouse across ones desk is not a pleasant sensation. I prefer using a mouse pad. Being technologically advanced doesn't mean you have to be uncomfortable. -Jeff

My Desktop!

Your MSTS "Control Room"… Post Your Pic's – image 22

Here is my workstation. It is located in a loft room overlooking the living room. The computer on the right is mine. The computer on the left is my wife's. Her desk is just out of sight to the left. The printer is an Epson Photo Stylus 1270. My Minolta film/slide scanner sits on top of my PC and you can see just the edge of my flatbed scanner on the right. RE: Your MSTS

Here's mine:Your MSTS "Control Room"… Post Your Pic's – image 26I use a switchbox to go between machines. The machine I run MSTS on is the big one under the desk with the speaker on top. No comments on the mess. I'm not thrilled with the current setup-it just kind of organically grew into this when I inherited my friend's old machines. I'm planning to make something to hold the machines, scanner, and printer so that everything looks neater and the wiring is all in one place.

RE: We Have a Winner

Additional shots of my sim cab. Been working on and off since MSTS 1 was released. Really not that difficult or expensive considering all the great resources on the web for cockpit builders and such. Those guys are amazing! Thank's to eBay quite a few of the parts are from actual units at a decent price.

well, I don't have a digital camera but I will say that I'm happy that I build my first computer with train simulatoir in mind.
Pentium 4 2.66GHz overclocked to 2.8Ghz
DDR333 SDRAM overclocked to 360Mhz
standard flippy drive
CD-RW/DVD Combo drive
GeForce4 MX440 128 MB 4X AGP
maxtor 7200RPM 60 gig HD
all tucked inside this nice little case that 11.8 in long 7.2 in high and 7.8 in wide (shuttle XPC ss51g)
and to top it all off a wireless keyboard and mouse combo
What u Think?P.S. I probably would give anything to use that cab for trainsim
P.S. again my computer cost about $675
If it old and useless, Replace it

Have not been feeling too well lately so the work are is a bit of a mess. The little bookcase to the left is full of SP books (nothing else) and under the little table to the right is nothing but misc magazines and books. The picture over head is a signed and numbered Howard Fogg, titled
"The Great Race, Broadway LTD vs 20th Century LTD 1930"
on either side of the Fogg are 3 pics, to the right they are of SP, to the left UP.
On the scanner is a real SP Hard hat and a stack of 4 Ford Racing hats...(lets see here what car won more W.C. races this year )Out of sight to the left are 5 more Howard Fogg paintings and a builders photo of a BLW 2-6-6-4 S.A.L. Rwy #2501.
Out of sight to my right is a floor to ceiling bookshelf full of RR related books, 3 brass steam engines (HO Scale) and a custom built and painted GN #400 "Hustle Muscle"The shelf under the coffee table runs over with Railfan & Railroad, Trains, Diesel Era, and CTC Board magazines. I think that covers most of it. Regards,

My control room is my laptop or my brother's computer (his is faster and doesn't have the handicap of a slow drive)But just for fun:Your MSTS "Control Room"… Post Your Pic's – image 36There at the top is Union-Atlantic.com, but now there's two hard disk enclosures on top of those. The middle is networking gear, the last shelf down is my local fileserver and a box for parts... It's all in my room at the foot of my bed next to the rack of spare parts and cables....that's it. Tim Frost
