I am a Lutheran Pastor...I am the sole minister at a medium sized congregation in God's Country...the Northwoods of Wisconsin. With wonderful streams, beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife (animals, as well as people), no wonder it's called God's COuntry. Also, it's a well known fact that God's favorite football team is the Green Bay Packers!!!!!

Self employed in IT. I started out intending to stick to strictly systems and network support and tried to stay as far away from supporting software as I could, but I've sort of devolved into "the computer guy". I find it is easier to try to fix whatever obscure piece of software they re running rather than try to explain that I don't do that.

RE: What everyone does for a living

I started early in technical jobs. 1st technical jobs was Installing Closed circuit TV & Security camera systems, along with UHV/VHF radio/TV antenna's & equipment. Then I moved into component level repair of consumer electronics, mostly Car Audio Amplifiers, and then graduating up into small surface mount circuitry when I took a handful of courses and became a certified Sony 8mm Camcorder technician. I then moved from that into becoming a certified Compaq Server Tech, and finally from that into what I do now. Currently I am the IT dept. /Systems Administrator For an electronics recycling company of about 100 Employees at a 300,000 square foot electronics recycling facility. I Run a couple racks of Netware servers with about 100 workstations and serve as the general "Computer Geek" Of the Company running all over the facility daily to fix everyones everyday computer/networking problems. I LOVE my job and look forward to going to work every day! To me it's as if I get paid to go to this place and play with computers all day, somehow I've been doing it for about 8 years and never seem to get tired of it.Nick

Here's my favourite and best peice. (Not for sale! LOL)http://www.freewebs.com/jayscrollsaw/projects.htmAnd of course I manage my website. When I grow-up, Im planning on working with the RR, but not sure of a specific job yet, and I'm going to go for a degree in computers as a fallback.

RE: What everyone does for a living

Hi chuck,Well I see my post got the desired results. I aimed the post specifically at you and your uptight ways. I knew in my heart you would be unable to pass up responding to the post due to your inability to refrain from degrading forum members that do not meet your high standards. If you had engaged your sense of humor and observational powers also paying attention to who wrote the post you would have understood the post as it was meant to be taken. I was only poking fun at some of the members that put such a high value on correct spelling and grammer in the forum, you in particular. As I said in the English 101 thread I love to butcher the English language on occasion, mostly to jerk peoples chains and it certainly got the desired results. You read my other posts in the English 101 thread so do you think I have a problem with spelling? It was a joke and if it wasn't taken as such then you have a bigger problem than I actually thought. I have even seen you post a few humorous posts so I do know you are not always a stick in the mud. A forum should be a place that can contain humor as well as serious posts about MSTS or other subjects. Lighten up Chuck because this is not a perfect world filled with perfect people. Yes I am a retired Special Education teacher as well as 20 plus years as an aircraft airframe and tooling inspector. I detested teaching due to the uncaring attitude toward teachers and the uncontrollable kids brought about mostly by uncaring parents and lawmakers. In a word the American education system sucks. From kindergarten all the way through college in my estimation. If my health hadn't gone south and restricted my ability to get around the aircraft I would still be doing that job. Unlike education I received a real sense of accomplishment working on aircraft. Most of my aircraft work was short term contract jobs traveling the world on special assignments which gave me the opportunity to see and do things most people can only dream of doing in their lifetime. Now then, does this post satisfy your sense of values? Warped though they may be at times. Ken B.
