I know many of you are avid model railroaders (as am I). I have already seen some of your layouts, whether they be simple loops or complex main lines made for unit coal/grain trains and the like. But i would like to see more, if thats ok with you guys. If you dont want to thats fine, but just remember, if you think the rest of us might judge it based on flaws, youre wrong. I myself am stuck with a few loops of track and only two pairs of turnouts (Lego only). And we could also provide help on how to make something better. If you could also include the type of operations that would be nice as well. I like hearing about what other people do on their layouts. My new e-mail is Arcanine241@yahoo.comYour layouts – image 1

Hi,
Im currently building a model of Oakville yard based on the prototype in Ontatrio.
It is to N Trak standards and we just started laying tracks...
I'll post some pics when progress is made.
Oakville yard has 2 parts. A north yard (access to ford Plant) and south yard- for mix freight for industries along oakville sub.
It is double track high speed main line(95MPH for Pass-60 freight)
After the yard we are building the station, and on to Aldershot yard (mainly a lift and setoff yard-cars usually go to and from oakville) Have a loop like that and be able to run high speed passenger, auto trains and mix freight alond with roadswitchers and yard switchers.

UP Midland Division
N Scale layout based on a hypothedtical Union Pacific division in the midwest. The reason I created my own division was so I could sometimes tell Omaha where to go. As Division Supt I decided NOT to repaint all those good looking engines I acquired in the mergers. Now I've got some blue MO-PAC, "canary" MO_PAC, CNW,and even some those grundgy SP units running around.Layout is roughly a "J" in a 12' x 16' room
Runs 16' on one wall, 12 ft along another with 4 ft at the end of the
"J"Attached is looking at the one end of the yard at Midland City looking toward downtown.

RE: your layouts

Hi,
I am building with my dad a German style layout. Pictures are following as soon as I got them scanned.
It is a single/double tracked main line with a single tracked branchline diverging, a engine servicing facility, a freight yard, two stations and two underground storage yards (for sending trains on the mainline) on each end of the main line.
Each of the storage yards can hold three (+ one on a passing track) trains, that go on the main line. The branch line is designed to imitate a private train company, the diverges at the main stations. It has a trolley type electrification for a cargo EMU and a small electric loco. Aside from that, I am running all types of era III (post war to 1965) type of rolling stock, including diesel (V36, V60, V200, Class 216, Class 260) and steam (Class 01, 38, 43, 78, 79, 80 & 81) and a few DMUs (Schienenbus (rail bus)). My rolling stock consists of 1950s style passenger carriages (Schürzenwagen, converted standard carriages (Umbauwagen) etc.) and various freight cars (cement hoppers, box cars, beer cars (!!!) log cars, coils cars).
We are still busy with the wood construction. The branch terminal station is already finished with all landscaping etc. done as well as a part of the branchline. One of the underground stations is finished and operating in semi-automatic mode. Tracklaying is done on the mainline station and the engine service facilities.Well, if you are interested, I'll keep you posted. Hope this helps to relieve us from the prejudice of the German layouts with the highspeed trains racing around a circle... LOL!!!Cheers and regards from Germany, Sebastian

Hi,
that is absolutely marvelous! How many hours did you spend on that thing?????? I'm very jealous, 'cos our layout is still one big construction site!
But some first impressions here too:(first is the Cargo EMU with a short local goods train at a grade crossing, note the oldtimer logging truck in the front!)
(second is the same EMU exiting a tunnel)
(third presents my class 01, 43 and 81 steam engines)
(forth image: village life, a garde scene, note the oldtimer furniture truck in the background)
(fifth image displays the mainline station under construction)

Glad you mentioned it gunman. Was just taking pictures of the home layout as well as my RR club's layout. The home layout is on a 4X8 table, Has dual mains, a small 3 track switch yard, turntable /roundhouse, diesel servicing facility, a small town and mountain. I love what you can do in N scale. Here's the locomotive listSteam:
1 2-8-2 Mikado (soon to be 2 )
1 GS-4 (Daylight colors)
2 4-6-2 Pacific's
1 2-8-0 ConsolidationDiesel:
2 E9's
2 DD-40AX's
2 FT's
1 SD-7
2 F-9's
1 SD-90MAC
Will be adding slowly to this collection. I still want another 2-8-0 and see if I can get a 4-8-8-4 for use on the club layout/ modular.

RE: your layouts

I have a 4'x8' HO scale layout consisting of a single loop, one passing siding, a mountain/tunnel, a siding with a "pocket" IM yard, and a siding with a grain silo on one branch, a scrap yard (which I'm going to convert into a coal yard (I've got two 5 gal. buckets filled with perfect HO scale coal from work)) on another, and the engine leads for the small shortline RR (The Cincinnati Hamilton and Dayton Railway) that switches these industries. The main is operated jointly by CSX and NS. It's mostly done, I have to automate the switches and hope to one day install cab control. The Rolling stock is as follows:Locos:
1 CSX C44-8W
1 CR (Renumbered for NS)SD40-2
1 EMD GP38-2 (Leased by CH&D)
1 NS GP9 (operation Lifesaver)

1 CH&D SW 1200 (Repainted CSX)
1 CH&D SW 1 (Repainted CR)

RE: your layouts

LAST EDITED ON Mar-09-03 AT 09:24 AM (EDT)

Goodday model fans, instead of a permanent layout to share, lack of space just allows me to run a wall-side install. Luckily, many of my models are narrow gauge, which combines the possibility of rather compact layouts (not much more space needed than for N-Scale) with the larger size engines and cars of H0 scale. The basic layout I need to give my engines the occasional chance to run and "stretch their ehm... wheels" is just a basic oval with a yard/depot area that allows for some interesting shunting activities. The track plan is as follows:Your layouts – image 56Rolling stock is numerous, as I collected just this scale / gauge over the years, except for some Maerklin models of European and US stock in H0 which I still own. Current count stands at something like
40+ steam, diesel and electric engines, shunters and motorcars,
60+ passeneger coaches
80+ freight cars
15 trolley motor cars and trailersAs I do not have pictures on file, just allow me to the manufacturers of the engines, cars and trolleys. Narrow gauge models are mostly from these source (of interest especially if you are into contemporary and historic European NG stuff):http://www.bemo-modellbahn.de/
http://www.navemo.ch/with some limited edition brass models from various small manufacturers (yes, a little on the expensive side, but well worth it):http://www.wabu.ch/
http://www.suter-meggen.ch/ Unfortunately for my purse, these manufacturers change the road numbers of their models with every new edition, so over the years, I've "accumulated" different roadnumbers and / or livery versions of the same model. They sure know how to build customer loyalty.Lukas a.k.a Swissie
