Hi all,Have just installed Trainz and after an hour or so have worked out a few things and have run a few trains round. One thing still puzzles me: how do you drive the trains in Cabin control mode? DCC control was easy enough, but I didn't like the feel of it (having played with BVE for what seems like an eternity) and wanted to try cabin control which promises better physics etc. I've found a few controls through the method known as random button pressing: found that + sounds the horn and 8 notches the power up, so I've had my SD40 sitting there thrashing like blazes but can't find how to release the brakes and get the thing on the move. There doesn't seem to be any instructions on how to drive the things on the disc, and I've found plenty of technical FAQs on the website but nothing on how to drive things.Any help/pointers would be gratefully received. I apologise for being a clueless idiot!-- Cheers Ben
Hi Ben --Hidden in an obscure place in one of the .pdf documents (p35 of the Technical_Manual)in the Docs folder is a basic key card. However, try this:http://forums.auran.com/TRS2004/forum/showthread.php?threadid=73692&referrerid=31319In essence: F / R = forward / reverse Q / A / Z = brake release / apply / lap E = locomotive brake on/off C = regen brake CTRL-D = decouple (and then click with mouse on coupling) < and> = pre-set positions in the cabThere are a host of other keys, for example, changing cabs in a two cab locomotive and for steam locomotive operation. See the link above.Should get you on track.Just make sure you have installed Service Pack 4.Phil
Thanks Phil, thats got me going. Bit surprised though that my copy of Trainz is relatively new (Virtual Railway 1.3), yet its still being issued with problems that a big service pack has to fix. Strange. -- Cheers Ben
Ah, you got 1.3? Then don't download the Service Pack 4 on the trainz website. That is for the newest version, Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004(started as 2.0 and is now 2.4 with the service pack). Just thought you should know so that you don't mess up the program.
