I stopped at my daughter's home on the way back to Florida. I gave him TRS2004 a few months ago. Since he is only nine, I thought I would download some files from the Download Station to add a route and a few rolling stock. I attempted to download a route--boy is the system ever slow even using broadband. Auran must be using Windows 95 and the slowest computer left in Austrailia--that or they want to make sure everyone pays a lot more money for their quicker computer! However, it was not long before I got a warning that I had exceeded my monthly quota.I could hardly believe what I was seeing. I couldn't even get all the files required for the route I was downloading. What a waste of time and money. The graphics is fine, but after that everything goes down hill. I have the TRS2004 on my home computer, but never use it in place of MSTS.Even though MSTS may be a bit behind when it comes to taking advantage of DX9 and other features used by TRS2004--I still think it is better over all.Oakpalms
The limit is roughly 100mb's a day.. Which considering thats 100mb per user ,per day.. i think thats quiet alot for free My favorite railfan site (www.railfan.net) only lets me see 20mb a day Catchya
Problem I see is that you are confused. The servers are actually located in the US.Try doing a ping to the server files.auran.com and you should get a response then try tracert and see how many hops you are away.Dave
Hi Oakpalms -With a "First Class" download ticket you do get a first class service - I can assure you the download speed does fly! Only a few bucks too. It's excellent value if you are at all interested in Trainz.Phil
For free downloads you are limited to about 5kb/s. This isn't because they have slow servers, but that they have so many people trying to download every day. It is a compromise to keep from having a system like the train-sim.com file library, where only a few people can be in the library at the same time. A First Class Ticket is only about $10 a year, and you get up to 800kb/s.-Stetson
The only problem (and yes, there is a thread in the Auran Forum about this) is the fact that some builders can't keep straight just what it is they upload. For example, it's not uncommon to find a hundred or so boxcars in a locomotive search, or turn up a steam engine under diesel locomotives. It's worse if you have UTC.
