HP-Trainz will release the freeware Route "Marias Pass light" at the Intermodellbau show 21. April in Dortmund. This section of the HiLine leads from Shelby to Cut Bank (Montana). The route was consequently made in polygon optimized technique. It contains only build-in content plus a heap of custom content made by the authors - no 3th (or 4th ?) party content.Some random screenshots of the route:

RE: Marias Pass light - Route release in few days

The entire route (but this is music of the future) is 150 miles (~250 km) from Shelby to Whitefish. The present part which is to be released soon (we called it "Marias Pass light") is (including the Sweet Grass branchline trunks) about 50 miles long. It is the part between Shelby and Cut Bank, the more flat part of the route. We will give the choice to the user to download it (the content parted in several download files) or to order it on a CD-ROM (for the price of the shipping and material costs).Some more pics showing the SD9 locos making their service around Cut Bank (MT);

LAST EDITED ON Apr-16-04 AT 01:58 PM (EDT)

The terrain is made with DEM`s /hog. Tracks etc. was laid using aerial photos and topomaps (terraserver)and the Tiger vektors, for the scenery we have used countless photos (fortunately, the Marias Pass route is well documented with photos, which we got from the web).

That looks amazing! The only thing about this forum is that it doesn't have any drool icons Do you have idea how much custom content there will be to download?PS: Where did you get that track? Is it on the DLS?

>PS: Where did you get that track? Is it on the DLS?The route and the content will be about 120 MByte, but will be parted in several handy download files. But we will offer a possibility to order all together on a CD, just for the price of the material and shipping costs, I guess about 5 US$.The tracks are also our own creation and will be included within the download /CD. BTW, the track ist chunky-mesh based, no heawy impact to the performance

RE: Marias Pass light - Route release in few days

Sorry guys for the delay,
but we had to move our domain to another server, what caused some unexpected probs.But, the Marias Pass low route is available now at:
HP-Trainz
for free DL. Search the free/routes section. The entire content is downloadable from the same site. For users with slow connection we are offering the possibility to order the route with content on a CD for a fee of 5,- USD which covers the shipping and productions costs.CheersJosef (HP-Trainz team)
