It is DEFENETLY Worth picking up! The Route Editor (Surveyor) Is worth it alone! There are Hundreds of thousands of downloads, and thats just on the main website. I cant think of any bad things about it off the top of my head, exept you can only download one thing at a time on the download station... http://www.auran.com/trs2004/dls.php
I used to be skeptical as you are but I've seen its features in use and it proved to me it will be a worthy purchase. If you live in the USA, I suggest you get it via their online store. Its only about $40 USD right now, with S&H I believe. I'll be getting it soon too, as soon as I scrape together enough moolah.~The only way to ship~
Its well worth it. If you want to build your on route but have trouble with MSTS route builder. The Trainz route builder is easy to learn and a lot of help on the forums. Look at this web site for a lot of free stuff that is super. http://www.trainzproroutes.com/If you like narrow gauge then this is the program for you. Lots of execlent routes, equipment, etc.Trainz is different from MSTS in many ways and a lot like it in many ways. They are both very good programs. If I tire of one I just use the other one awhile.
I did the same...Brand new, and with the cash back on my PayPal card, it cost me only $9.80 - with free shipping to boot! Cheers! Marc - 3DTrains http://www.3dtrains.comPro Series SuperPacks
