These were taken by a friend who works for Amtrak. Two pictures are from the ex-ATSF Hi-Level Lounge which is now Amtrak's Pacific Parlour Car.The other two are from a single level Amtrak Heritage Diner. Both of these would be great to have as interiors for Trainz.Hope these help the skilled custom creators who can build interiors.Enjoy

Hi PANYNJ,a relaunch of my Superliners is on my schedule. I hope to release them before end of this year. The will have interiors as well. Could you manage to get some interior fotos in similar quality as those shoved above. It would be very helpfull. To get an impression of my interior creation style, here a screenshot of an cab interior I created recently:Josef
Wow! That's amazing! What cab is it?I'm looking forward to the relaunched SL sets! Tim Frost NVTA Subway routes for BVE: http://nvta.co.uk The Union Atlantic Railroad: Your stuff's important! http://union-atlantic.com
>Wow! That's amazing! What cab is it? > It is from the class 180 DB (german railways), resp. class 372 ÈD (Czech Railways), two system electric used for the border crossing traffic in the Elbe walley. More description:In the end of the eighties the electric overhead has reached the border between Czechoslovakia and Germany on both sides. As the both railway authorities (former CSD an DR) was using different electric systems for their lines (25 kV/16.7 Hz AC in Germany, 3 kV DC in the north of Czechoslovakia - now Czech Republic), there was emerging a need for two system electric locos, to avoid the time consuming double change of traction on both sides of the border (Bad Schandau and Decin). The CSD and DR decided to order such a loco by the SKODA works in Plzen (Pilsen, where the famous beer comes from) as this manufacturer had wide experience in production of two system engines. The engines was delivered 1991 (20 Ex. for DR where it becomes class 230, 15 Ex. for CSD as class 372). After the merger between DR and DB, the German locos changed to class 180.The engines are used for passenger and cargo trains mainly on the Elbe valley line (Berlin-)Dresden-Praha but also for the relation Berlin-Frankfurt/Oder-Poland. To the highlights in their services counts the international passenger expresses like the famous "Vindobona" Berlin-Praha(Prague)-Wien(Vienna), the Hungaria, Balt-Orient-Express, etc. In the cargo services the most important is actually the "RoLa"-service, what means "rolling road" between Dresden-Friedrichstadt(D) and Lovosice(CZ). The road trucks are rolling on special waggons, their drivers takes place in a coach , avoiding so the difficult road passage trough the border region. On the other end of this route the trucks are rolling off the train and continuing their way on the road.Technical data of class 180 DB/class 372 CD:Manufacturer: SKODA Plzen Count: 20 (DB) + 15 (CD) Electric system: 15 kV/16.7 Hz AC 3 kV DC Length over bumpers: 16 800 mm Mass: 84 t V max.: 120 km/h Max. tractive force: 280 kN Max. power: 3260 kW
Josef,I'll talk to my friend and see what he can do. I'm sure he has Superliner Interior Pics.I also have a few of the Sleeper, Coach, Lounge (Upper and Lower Levels) and Diner from my trip on the Texas Eagle this past summer, it's just a matter of getting them scanned in.Also, on Amtrak's website, they have virtual 180 degree photos of the whole Superliner Fleet.Great work and it's fantastic to see more interiors for Trainz.
Thanks for your efforts. I will really aprecieate to get the interior pics. I am also interested in the interior of the Surfliners, as I am planning to make them to. I have no idea, how they looks inside.Josef
Josef,I can't help with the Surfliner Interior, however there is a Surfliner set available for MSTS and it comes with an interior view. If you look on the Screenshot Forum, you should be able to find them in there by doing a search for "Surfliner"As for the Superliner Interiors, follow this link to Amtrak.com which has 380 Degree Pictures of each car.I can also get you Amfleet and Viewliner Interior Pics if you would like.http://www.amtrak.com/savings/cn-tour.html

I'm curious as to how many maps went into creating that cab, and what size those maps were? Also, how many polys are we talking here for that cab?I've created a fair amount of cabs/interiors myself, and I know first hand that it's rather easy to make something look THAT good if you use an unlimited number of maps and/or the sizes of those maps are large. The real challenge is, in my view, creating a cab or interior that looks good with a maximum of ONE 1024x1024 image map...It will also run on the average machine with no problems. If you have created that cab using one 1024x1024 image, or less, i'd be very interested in hearing how you did it?
Are you planning on modeling the Superliner interiors to the same level of detail/quality as that cab? I can't imagine how that would be when trying to run on a detailed map with tons of scenery outside as well?!
Hi lando,I can fully understand your concerns about the polycount and textures amount. I am also trying to keep the polycount as low as possible.Interior 4293 polys Textures all together about 5,8 Mbyte max size of single texture 512x512. Single textures with 1024x1024 and more has a bigger impact to the performance that multiple smaller textures (I found out experimentally). The overall texture amount seems to be very large, but look at the Auran interiors. They have overall texture amount of 2- 3,8 Mbytes divided in countless smaller files. I was orienting on this examples. For a loco it would be inacceptable, but for an interior seems to be different rules. When you are outside of the cab, the interior is out of the game and has no impact to the performance, contrary, inside the cab, your loco is out of the game.We was testing this cab on several computers, also on engines with lower performance and didn't experience any serious drops on framerate.BTW, this loco and interior was developed as 3PS object for TRS 2004 and was approved by Auran (As you surely know, they don't let pass a a piece of rolling stock or any other object, which is beyond their limits). The reason, why the loco finally will not be included in TRS is the impossibility to get an inclusion agreement, that is satisfying for both sides. And yes, you are the master, who always sets new standards in rolling stock creation. I have learned a lot, studying your California Zephyr and other pieces of your creations. Just eager to know, what you have as next in store for us.RegardsJosef
