The National railway Museum - York Cab it exhibition. March 22-23 2003Hentis Tales Day 1
==================The Day started for me very early, Infact 04:30 hours GMT to be precise. Catching the first train of the day to London was in theory a good idea but practice a bad idea as in I need sleep, but I managed to get up on time and catch the Train to London. I got to London some 20 minutes down from the scheduled time and now leaving me a small miracle to get my 09:00 connection to Kings Cross. Well I made it to my Train with 5 mins to spare. Phew!! Some 2 Hours later we arrived at Doncaster where I saw Porterbrooks Purple hippo... the Deltic D9016 Gordon Highlander Such a bonus. About 20 minutes later I was there at York. After a Brisk 10 minute walk I was there at the National Railway Museum. It had been 17 years since I was last in this neck of the woods. Bringing back vauge but fond memories of my last visit all those years ago... ( theres a song there somewhere).Well I wandered on in meeting Paul "Chilean Lama" , "Crazy" Dave, GregSd and Adam aka "Vectorm1299"They were based in what used, to be an old goods shed from what I gathered, now called the station Hall. We were down towards the far end not far from D200, 50033 Glorious and D1023 Western Fusilier, in a tent at the back of the Station Hall. For more info on the NRM go WWW.nrm.org.ukAny how back to my visit. After the introductions I got settled into the the job of Helping the guys displaying Trainz and explainging to the general public. Although at first a bit quiet after the lunch time a few people were drawn to the Trainz stand via Gregs Horns. at one stage a nice little group appeared as well as fellow trainzer and Community member Cyberstorm showed up and spent about an hour with us. A young lad came round asking if he could have a go in which Lama duly Obliged and the lad was happily having a go driving a steam loco on Lama's Rosthworth Vale route. Also the lad had a go at driving 4 HotRod locos coupled together at a top speed of over 2000+ MPH.... a great feat indded. We had the chance over the afternoon to talk to quite a few people who will hopefully be purchasing Trainz over the next few days. As per Vectorms post there was a fair bit of fun in the air on trying to get the loudest horn going but I think Greg won that... although Lamas Woofer managed to make the F7 a really nice sounding loco :p So overall a very good day for Trainz and the guys at the NRM.
Eventually the day came to an end and I had to leave the guys. After saying my good byes and Greg, lama, Paul and vectorm all went their
seperate ways I caught the 18:20 train to Kings Cross and managed to arrive back at home in Poole some 21 hours after I had left. Engineering works had caused diversions and delays.Below are Pics of my trip upto the NRM.CheersHentis
