Ultimate Trainz Collection Review

I'm not pleased with 'Ultimate' Trainz Collection. Even the use of the word ‘ultimate’ upsets me! It kind of reminds me of the '62 Mets, where the media pickup Casey Stengel use of the word 'amazing' in describing ‘em. Took the Mets 7 years before they were capable of living up to that word. Will Trainz get there sooner or will it ever? As to the 'collection' aspect of this package, except for putting Trainz & Paint Shed together, it ain't much of a collection. The 'expanded' Collection Pak that is also part of this package is a underweight!

Gamers still have little control over content. Everything still must be loaded. The game still doesn't use the category TAGS that were the major holdup that caused Greg's CCP weekend project to become almost a month. They did add a ‘favorite’ button, but this doesn’t stop items that will never be use from loading.Paint Shed while it now carries a version 1.5 on its splash screen hasn't really been any improvements beyond the Brew Crew correcting their short-cut mirroring scheme since the original. It appears Auran is not interested in making any of the many desired improvements requested by many, me included, under pretext that more experience skinners will use better programs. They claim adding Paintshed compatible models is sufficient reason for changing the utility program version number. So the next time you add something to your car (e.g. steering wheel cover) or your home (e.g. another phone), think of Auran and claim it is now a new car or home!For newbies, the package is well worth it and for owners who are interested in more scenarios they should consider upgrading. But for others who already own Trainz & PS should pass it up unless you need the fixes, want the few improvements, and really must have the TGV now!

By your continual untruths about Auran and their work (mostly in the private beta tester forum of Trainz), it is clear that you are against what they are doing. So, why don't you do all the rest of the beta testers a favor and submit your resignation as a beta tester; then delete Trainz from your harddrive.Come to think of it, you're very close, AGAIN, to breaking the NDA.Lawrence

What a BS. and TGV IS THERE NOW.
This is VERY UNFAIR, as you DO NOT point out all the improvements in the UTC
that were customer's suggestion such as tunnel camera, cab camera, and etc.
I AM SO DISGUSTED TO HAVE YOU BETA TEST SOMETHING I PRE-ORDERED.

There is something that you have to understand about Dru--he is very unhappy because he didn't get his way. His post is extremely colored by that fact. Further, he was given the facts as to the version incrementation of Paintshed, but, since he didn't get what he wanted, he selectively ignores the facts.BTW, Dru, since I *know* you are reading this, incrementing the version number for TPS is NOT analagous to buying a steering wheel cover for your car and saying it is a new car. Nowhere has Auran stated that TPS is new. You appear, at times, to be quite saavy about the computer world, but if you don't understand the concept of version numbers, then you have a real lack of understanding.Lawrence

Yes, there are facts, but he is ONLY stating facts that he didn't like.
As I said I dont see anywhere details about what's improved.
Thus, this is NOT a "review" but just a rant of some beta tester.
Review is something that is written from fair point of you stating what's good and what's bad.
In this case I only see bad.

No you are not mistaken. In my opinion, which I stated above, he is pushing the NDA (Nondisclosure Agreement) to the edge. There are statements in it which declare what a beta tester can make public, and he is AGAIN near the edge.As I also said, he is also very unhappy because he didn't get his way.Lawrence
