Message Areas - "too transparent alpha & new repaint" – image 1That pier is set as "terrain object". I didn't do anything special to the alpha layer, and wheels are original so they work correctly.I'm making this Lehigh Valley repaint of U25B(LV had U23B's, but they are very close to U25B)

"RE: too transparent alpha & new repaint" The alpha channel you applied to the locomotive part is of higher priority than the bridge object, thus showing the rail ties below. For better results, try using a TransNorm for these locomotive areas - they'll allow you to use transparency, but not at the expense of affecting other objects. Cheers!

The original textures weren' transparent at all until I changed the windows to 100% transparent. I just repainted this, John Fowlis made the original.
(maybe he could do U23B also?)Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-03-01, 04:04 PM (EST) 3. "RE: too transparent alpha & new repaint" Compare the original Alpha channel to the new one - i assume the windows were not totally transparent before, which would indicate an 8-bit Alpha channel. If so, make sure the Alpha channel is still 8-bit, and do not use -trans with makeace.------ BUZZ Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-05-01, 01:48 PM (EST) 4. "RE: too transparent alpha & new repaint" I noticed that this problem occurs in the original EL U25B. I just happened to drive on the pier with this repaint. This problem is most likely in all U25B repaints.
There's nothing(scenery or other trains) in the windows either, but that is not as bad looking as that bogie thing.John, can you fix this?Enocell

Jan-24-02, 12:07 PM (EST) 6. "RE: too transparent alpha & new repaint" It's the Hoboken Shore RR.
I know how to fix this. Just check the 'terrain object' box in the object properties. All terrain objects will be visible in the windows.Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
