HEy all, Since I am back, thought I would ask, is the IC SD70 that was being worked on released? If not, if you need a betateater, I would love to give it a whirl. I am still in the process of loading all of the files I lost.....which will take forever....so I could use some fun!!

Apparently Trouble Pryor was working on one ages ago... I think it is more than a year since we've seen any progress reports on it, so I guess it is fair to say it is dead...

There was a more recent one as well. BNSF 4999 (Kevin V.) had a great one that he was working on (see "Illinois Central SD70 anyone? - dated 9/28/04 in this forum). Don't know whatever happened to it.

Well look at all the MLT repaints in the file library . I seriously doubt that it's a ego problem . Agreed it's a shame they can't be uploaded , but the artist has them to enjoy , and we did get to see his excellent work if only in screenshots . I asked for permission to upload a set of Apache SD70M's and Danny said yes . Then asked for permission to upload a set of Dash9's , but didn't get it so they will not be uploaded . I'm not mad a Danny for this , just going to have fun running them myself . They will be available for upload if permission is ever given . Till then we enjoy the Engines that we have , and are released .

>I seriously doubt that it's a ego problem.I believe it is. He seems to have a problem when people do simple things to his models and skins. I remember a small quarrel Mr. Beck had with another T-S.com member when he applied a simple logo or two to Danny's models. Danny jumped down his throat about it saying "Nice way to slap a logo on it..." or something to that sort. Then he raised all kinds of hell about releasing it. The "member" never said anything about releasing any of the skins he did yet Danny made it sound like he committed some kind of evil sin. Danny's not the best person for MSTS and I think he needs to think about that. I will give him credit though he does do a fantasic job on the models he makes. I think he needs to tone down that little problem with his "internet attitude" though. Maybe he'll gain more respect from some of us around here.Just my 2 cents.

Brother that would have been me that redid the skins and just like you said. I had no intentions of releasing them! One reason is that no S file can not be uploaded and most members do not know how to use Route Riter to change the S file names. But it seems that you and me share similar attitudes and respect manners. Cause I am not one to bow to nobody and when someone thinks there better then everyone else. Then I have a problem with them. I will give the guy credit, he is damn good at what he does. But thats as far as it goes! I hate to stir bad blood again, but thats the simple truth and facts! Far as his future products go, I will not be buying any of them! But do not base any of your opinions from my own, be your own judge!

Danny can do what he wants, he is by far the best damn MSTS add-on creator around. He does and incredible job at everything. When I talk to him on YIM, he is a great guy. What the hell are all you talking about with this ego #####! That’s BS. If he doesn't want you to release it, tough! Its his stuff, so its his call. Get over it!

Whatever... People like you saying this stuff just encourages him to have a bigger attitude problem. I take it you don't like to see the hobby grow either figuring "its his stuff." He might as well just say "ITS MINE ALL MINE" and then run off and cry like a 2 year old. People making new addons is part of enjoying the hobby. Then when you have someone saying they aren't allowed to release their hard work is quite a pain in the @$$. I for one would hate to spend hours on something other would enjoy and then to have it turned around and never get released for the public to enjoy. Once again I give credit to Danny and all his hard work. Sure he is one of the best guys for MSTS but as many of us talked about before, we wish he would tone down that "internet attitude" of his. Then we can respect him more.-JeffP.S.-Enough of the War. Back to the original topic.

OK I am going to make my last reply before, I head out of town for the weekend. Lets say if you went out and bought one of those new badass 2005 Ford Mustangs. Then you want to repaint it and hell I don't know put twin turbo's in it also. Then you take some pics of that bad car and showed your friends. Then all of a sudden ford is giving you load of crap for doing it. Well thats about what it translates to here, if I paid $$$ for the Loco packs then I am in-titled to do what ever I damn well please with it, long as I do not pirate-distribute it by any means. Thats what it boils down to in a nutshell. Once again the guy is very talented, but I am not going to take any junk off him. Since I purchased these products and did mods for my own use. I think and feel thats a more then fair assumption. I think if Danny can be a little more understanding in this stance, then there is going be no problems. For me and my superinflated ego this will be the last time I address those eager to pass judgement knowing little of the facts. For anyone who has actually ventured into the world of 3D modeling and texturing you will be able to appreciate what I am about to say. It is a long and arduous task. Gathering reference to ensure accuracy, building the model, laying out the UVW mapping, texturing the model which includes weathering, and exporting with LOD's. Simply put - IT TAKES TIME! A lot of spare time that, if it weren't for the love of the hobby, would be better spent elsewhere. Another thing that should be noted is that I (we) are not in it for the money so ego, as you so eloquently stated, has nothing to do with any of this. And since there is little in the way for monitary compensation I think it a small token of appreciation to repsect the wishes of the creator. REGARDLESS of whether or not the author's desires run parallel to your own. I mean for godsake, let's put it in perspective... There are other companies that create addons that do not permit reskins to be redistributed... and for a good reason. It is not your right to redistribute a product.. if you are given that privelege so be it. But when you install any of the payware products you agree to the license terms. As simple as that you are bound to the restrictions placed upon the product you just installed or started using. If you think it's about ego then I invite you to put your own time and work into creating something like a loco from the ground up. You'll quickly learn to appreciate why some people ask only that you respect their wishes and watch as a few naysayers perpetuate illwill toward others. Oh let's not forget the freebie stuff that I have done... yeah that's pure ego there... doing something for nothing. I should be drawn and quartered. If you still think it's about ego then you have little in the way of understanding and respect. I am not 'packing up my toys' as some seem to imply. Quite the contrary. I will indeed continue as you will see in the coming months. Whether you buy any products I am involved in or not does not matter to me.. as I said I am not in this for the money. Nor am I in it for the acceptance of the community. I do it because I love trains. I am glad so many have enjoyed the models and appreciate those that are grateful and respectful for the hard work that so many do here. So if you still think it's about ego or "internet attitude".. LOL.. that's a new one... one that many here are themselves guilty of... if you think it's about any of this then you clearly do not, and will not ever, know me. Enjoy the new download at the Stream Lines website... ego... DBeck

Maybe I was a bit harsh with Mike and for that I apologize. It was a 'straw that broke the camel's back' sorta thing. After seeing many repaints make it into the file library w/o obtaining permission I only saw it getting worse and you received the brunt of my frustration. I do not have time to approve all requests that come to me and people need to understand that too... but alas you probably won't or just refuse to. Mike, again, I am sorry for my shortness with you.

RE: IC SD70....was it ever released?

Um...fellas..... I didn't want to start a fight here. But Danny, I myself have had no response, and have bought EVERYTHING MLT has produced, some twice now, and got no reply. Not pointing fingers at just you. Your co-horts don't answer either. I know life has its ways of interefering as I have been off for two months now, but after several contact attempts, it seems like your getting ignored. BTW, YOur work is incredible, and I DO know what it takes to do the models. Personally, you, Paul Fowler, and a couple others are the best in this business.....
IMHOBut, for us lowly reskinners, unless it is pure trash, I believe as long as the person does NOT distribute .s files, cabs, sounds, etc. Then the blanket repaints should NOT be a problem. My question was on the SD70 IC-NS style. THey are spot on for IC units, or as close as can be. I have ran, rode, switched in, on, and around them. Shot pics from every angle possible, and just plain enjoy them.Since the black is there, and just aces are being distributed, what will it hurt?I respect your rights, but when you make something that good, you have GOT to expect people to want to re-skin it. Isn't this what we are all here for anyhow?Just my opinion.

RE: IC SD70....was it ever released?

Well, there are two sides to every story - just be sure you know both well before making remarks (as was the problem mentioned in the above posts). As for Danny, think of it this way, look at how many people seem to want to use your stuff. I know, the no permission thing bugs you (I'm an avid train gif artist and get the same thing alot - hell, alot of my work shows up on here in peoples' signatures without any credit whatsoever, but hey, I see it as a compliment). Long story short, people really like your work, and you should be happy for that. I know it gets on your nerves sometimes, but there isn't too much you can do about that, so just take a look at the positive side of it.Finally, Danny, would you please give ace6879 permission to upload his IC SD70 reskins? They're beautiful skins that many would love to have, but it's all waiting on you (you youself said the no permission thing bugged you - since he's doing the right thing by asking, why not give him permission?).Anyways, that's my two cents on the issue. Don't take anything personally if I offended anyone.- - Nick Wilson

Indeed it is Jake, indeed it is but Danny has place a "No More Reskin" rule in effect on his products. I'm pretty sure it covers all the equipment he has made up to this date. I'm not totally sure on that though. Maybe someone can clear it all up for us. Would be nice to catch that IC '70 on my HD though. }> -Jeff

So does this mean that everytime I have picnic or cookout I have to get permission from the makers of the hotdogs, hamburgers, sodas and beer to share with my friends since I payed for those items for my use? Claude Debnam NS Piedmont Division Raleigh EastIC SD70… was it ever released? – image 36

You all forgot, Claude is a weenie anyways :pBut yes people do take it out of proportion, they act like they work for GE or EMD and the unit is being made for revenue service. The way I look at it is that it is his models and he doesnt have to l et you do a f***ing thing to it. So remember that next time you wanna gripe and complain.

>So does this mean that everytime I have picnic or cookout I
>have to get permission from the makers of the
>hotdogs, hamburgers, sodas and beer to share with my friends
>since I payed for those items for my use? Well if the picnic food manufacturers decided to place a EULA on the hot dogs before you opened them then yes. What I think is odd about that statement is that if you buy a game, that is now yours, and you make someone a copy of it... you are sharing. Others such as the federal government and creators of the product would be more inclined to call it piracy. With this type of product you agree to the terms set forth in order to use it. Digital media is a whole other creature. Companies view this sort of activity much differently than the general public. Like say some private party takes the Sony logo and slaps it on something they are redistributing as freeware/what have you. The private party hides behind the "oh but it's free advertising" excuse... the company would call it unauthorized use of their coporate tradmark. I know I don't need to spell it out most here but companies do this to protect themselves. Once redistribution of the digital media comes into play is when it becomes a problem regardless of ones intentions. They are not products meant for consupmtion. Although you could try to take the CD with you to the picnic and break it into pieces, put some ketchup on it, and share it with your friends... but I wouldn't recommend it. So let's compare apples to apples shall we? Wow I went on quite a tirade that time... sorry.

Nothing like a good sermon to liven the day.Can I get an AMEN? Danny I had to throw the food thingy in there.I had to try and keep some laughter in this matter.I look at it like this.If the maker has a policy concerning the posting of repaints we need to honor that.No if,ands or buts about it.We also should remember that the owner has the right to withdraw his policy at anytime. When the forum first started it was a practice not to post pictures of repaints until you had permission from the creator of the original model to upload their repainted products. It might be a good idea to first get that permission to upload the loco or wagon prior to posting pics.Claude Debnam NS Piedmont Division Raleigh EastIC SD70… was it ever released? – image 42

LOL. Sorry, I can get a little uppidy about it... it's getting difficult, these days, to tell who is just trying to lighten things up or openly mock someone. heh heh..Yes so back to some humor... A priest, a rabi, and a blonde walk into a bar...

Way to put things into perspective Danny. I can understand the effort into working on models and skinning them and can see where you're coming from and can respect your ban 100 percent. I can appreciate your work even if I just get to see it in pictures.(I am unable to buy payware for various reasons)

HaHa. And I never thought that I would make it to 100 posts.

RE: IC SD70....was it ever released?

Hey guys, Ironically, no one has caught the discrepansies in the 1026 repaint. It is in the road number...only IC 1000 - 1019 are correct for the 100% NS version. THe rest were built to IC specs. (No front toy box as deliveres IIRC....) Not that that would stop me!ALso, Interesting factoid: IC paid EMD 800 per unit to remove all the air conditioning stuff. Now, in 2003-present, they are adding A/C units to them. at $1800 per unit! DOH!! (It works GREAT BTW)BTW, that 1026 looks REAL familiar...and should to the guys at NALW too......SO Danny...you keep posting on here...you know fellas are tryimg to get ahold of you.....can we PLEASE get the aces uploaded? MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM HOT DOGS!!!! Cold, just out of the package....or Dari-Ripple in Belvidere, IL....best in the world!
