Thats the picture I went by - here's what I got. None of the colors look right. I'll try your numbers. I have some alpha work and cabview work to do yet. Comparing it to your shot above it I now have even more to do. Thanks!

Dwight, that shade of blue is way too washed out. It's a much deeper shade of blue. Unfortunately, I don't have the RGB numbers handy. That shade would be good if you want to do a sun-bleached ex-demo unit.DanEveryone is entitled to their opinion no matter how wrong it is.

Man, that looks really close to me; but then again I've been told I might be colorblind-LOL. But really, I like how it looks!

RE: EMD Demo Color

The SD45X was the testbed design for Dash 2 components. It was built on a SDP45 70'8" frame in late 1970. The unit was fitted with a 4,200 HP 20 cylinder prime mover, but had almost but not quite the electrical refinement of the SD45-2 (or a SD40-2). 6 units were brought into the Southern Pacific roster, and a 7th remained with EMD. The SD45-2 was launched in 1972, with the 3,600 HP restored and the slightly upgraded electrical equipment. Since a SD45X with 4,200 HP could not start as heavy a train as a heavy SD40-2, the only real advantage to these were in their high speed freight capabilities. CTE was no better than a SD40-2, since the electrical equipment was the limiting factor (alternators and traction motors). Thus the design had little sales merit, and 4000+ HP was still before it's time (awaiting better adhesion and traction motors to put it to good use).
