Windows for passenger cars – image 1

I've finally decided to try reskining. I started out reskining the NALW horizons (for my own use so don't worry )into Amtrak phase IV for use on the Pacific Surfliner route. I have stumbled along trying to figure out how to reskin with Paint Shop Pro 8. I've made some progress but I just can't seem to figure out how to make semi transparent windows (tinted). I have alphas for the window areas, just they are completely clear. There are several good tutorials on line (and that's how I've learned most of what I'm doing) but none seem to deal with tinted windows. I read somewhere something about Masks and I betting this is what I have to learn. But any tips, links, advice is very welcomed. Thanks
BTW, I know that these cars will eventually be released by NALW. I just wanted to learn how to reskin. And since I need Horizons for the Surfliner, what better car is there to start reskiniing on then NALW's Horizons?Windows for passenger cars – image 2

What it looks like you've done is either make the alpha channel black, or set your MakeAce to convert as a 1-bit alpha. If you've used grey for the windows but had MakeAce convert the file as a 1-bit alpha, it will appear as all black.Fix either (or both) of these, and you'll have nicely tinted windows to go on your Horizons.DanEveryone is entitled to their opinion no matter how wrong it is.

Thanks. It's amazing how much I've learned in just a few days. Thanks to TGA tool and Paintshop Pro, it actually isn't really all that difficult. Here is a shot with the latest skins on the horizons. Numbers are next. Windows for passenger cars – image 15

Matt,My two cents…, I like to make my windows dirty.
Just mess with the alpha channel.
I use a real window reflection.Have a sparkling day.
