Just want to know if I overdid the weathering on this one. It is meant for mixed traffic. Should I cut back on the rust?Weathering on the Mogul, is this good enough? – image 2/JonatanSteam rules!

Thanks guys. I might reduce the rust just a little bit.

RE: Weathering on the Mogul, is this good enough?

Hi,
Nice loco! In fact, you've inspired me to pick up modeling again, and I've even had success getting stuff to work!
As for weathering, there are certain places on a steam locomotive that get different kinds of weathering;
-Rust usually occurs on metal parts that come in constant contact with other metal parts (i.e. couplers, grab irons, footboards)
-Soot appears along the top of the loco,
-Dust appears along the wheels, rods, tender and trucks (color of the dust varies with location).
-Scale (steam condesation-looks like a whitish dust) appears long areas prone to leakage, like on steam chests, whistle, and pop off/safety valves. Steam locos also usually leave a wash of scale on the tender sides, usually extending from the front to around the coal bin.
-Ash appears grayish on hotter areas of the loco, such as the smokebox and firebox. I've included a picture that shows some of what I'm talking about.Hope this helps!Have a nice day

Just an opinion, but maybe tone down the green cab interior a bit on brightness.....gets dirty in there too
