How does it look so far? – image 1

Here is my Full Bucket Line SD40T-2 that I am making. I was supposed to paint these in the DRGW-style FBL freight livery, but I ended up with the modern FBL paint scheme. This is in the EARLY stages of painting. For now I gotta make the white band taller because it's too narrow. I know that there are goof-ups, and that the instructions are still there, so I don't need it pointed out to me.This is Dick Cowen's model detailed for the Southern Pacific. I'm also going to do some FBL snoot-nose SD40T-2's (also detailed for SP) to use as helpers and such. Yay! Textures that are actually an original by me!
Any constructive critism might be helpful too. Also suggestions for numbers (8 total) might be helpful, as long as they aren't numbers used by any other FBL locomotives available.Let me know what you guys think.

RE: How does it look so far?

The one thing that stands out to me that could be changed are the door panel lines. They seem to be really dark and don't give the illusion of a 3D effect. What you can do is make 1 line dark and put another line along side it in a lighter color. This gives it a 3D effect. This site: http://www.angelfire.com/wizard/tspainter/advanced1.html also has some good info on it.I also have about 12 tutorials in pdf format from a site . E-mail me at jklein@hartley-ms.k12.ia.us if you are interested in these.Yours in Railroading,

Jerry

Thanks guys!I just put the Southern Pacific Golden Pig logo on there because I just wanted to see how it looked, and I love the SP (long live the SP! ). I put the toad on there because that is my nickname (for complicated reasons), so I used it as a signature that it's mine. When this get's released (if it does), the toad and the SP Golden Pig logo wont be there because it wouldn't fit in with the other FBL locomotives.I'm leaving all the hood door lines and other details 1 pixel wide and completely black because I need them to contrst against all the other colors because it's easier for me. I will blend them in during the final stage of painting, which is weathering.P.S.- Ive decided to number them in the 2000-2300 series since some FBL SD40-2's in the FL are numbered that way (#s 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2023, & 2028).
