RE: Projects for the day.

the SD39's that Guilford Owns are SD38 Shells but with a SD39 Engine inside of it. Nother classic update *rolls eyes* and the GP40-2 will stand in as a GP40X seems i have no freakin clue on creating the shape.

RE: Projects for the day.

What is the difference between an SD39 and an SDL39? Don't Know if this will help, but if you want an SDL39, there is one in the FL. Jon

RE: Projects for the day.

the Diffrence bewteen the two are only a small upgrade for a certain railroad. so its still a SD39 only with a L.

Actually, there's a big difference. Compare an SD39 with an SDL39: Projects for the day – image 8 Projects for the day – image 9
The "L" in SDL39 stands for lightweight. The SDL39's were built exclusively for the Milwaukee Railroad by EMD from 1969-1972. They were intended for use on branch lines where light rail was in place. The body of the unit is similar to a GP38, but by spreading out the weight out the axle loading is reduced to 41,000 pounds compared to the GP38's 61,000 pounds.-----------------------------Projects for the day – image 10

RE: Projects for the day.

i noticed that one when i read the Model Railroader magazine.. my bad.. the only time i saw a SDL39 was when i worked for Midwest Rail Systems. but now im on my own with Virtual railroading, and its kinda hard findin the right type of engine. so i guess im better off useing the SD38 for now? i noticed that Altas Model railroad company did a SpringField Terminal SD26.. wish it was that easy to do one for MSTS.
