LAST EDITED ON Aug-12-04 AT 05:07 AM (EST)

Hoping to speak with those who have experience in painting the 3DTS SD70m. This is My first attempt at a repaint, and is modeled after the ONR SD70 I #2100. I am having trouble locating parts in the following areas:1) the left side where the 2 blue stripes run from the hood down to the walkway, end abruptly at a yellow coloured piece of metal , that I think should be painted to match the hood.2) the area around the number boards should be yellow.3) the steps front and rear should be dark, possibly black4) the top of the nose should be dark blue, although, this could possibly be left alone, at least until a real ONR fan gives me grief about it! We'll see...and yes, the logos on the hood sides are a little small , but that can be easily fixed later. In any case, any advise on the above either thru here or offline would be most appreciated.Thank you, Paul Watson

Looking good That model is one of the worst to skin I did a repaint of it into Conrail (its in the lib.) and it sure wasnt easy. A lot of trial and error and using bright paint on unknown parts got me there in the end Cheers

DualFlag's version turned out amazingly well done. So I guess this would be another one of those "hit and miss' propositions. Paul Watson

RE: Ontario Northland RR SD70

Paul the best advice is the advice that AdamB said above, use a bright pink, a bright purple, a bright green or anything that would stand out, paint the parts you cannot figure out with these various colors and then use Shapeviewer to see where these parts are on the engine, and believe me they will stand out and make a note of it then go in and repaint them the color they should be. Sometimes you may have to do one color at a time but it works. Sometimes the only way you can figure out what something is. Good advice Adam.
