Here is the latest screen shots of my Hamersley Iron SD50's. There is still more work to be done until I start the other 4 road numbers. The C36-7's are also been done by myself using John Peterson's model. Any ideas on how to make the numberboards clearer?? Authentic radiator grids! How come the numbers are white, when on the ACE file, I had them as black? I hope you all like these. I have had (and still am having) a great time repainting these models! >Mike Forster< Perth, Western Australiapacificnational_nr103@hotmail.com

Mike,On the SD60M's I decided to not use the Alpha channel for the numberboards. Make it alot easier in getting a more desireable appearance.Keep up the good workJon
Very nice job Mike, and I agree with Jon about not using the alpha channels on the number boards. Try his suggestion, I think it will come out crisper and clearer.Great work. Keep it up.RangerWestern Maryland Railroad Gone, but not forgotten!
Lookin good Mike! But where's the double skin cab roof, air-con on the walkway and double handrails? I could easily make them up and use the FreightAnim tag to add them, but I think it already uses that for the body? Hmm, will try something now.... You could also try sharpening the texture files for crisper edges. But dont sharpen too much or the edges will go all fuzzy. Cheers, David.
> I could easily make them up and use the FreightAnim tag to add them, but I think it already uses that for the body?David, If I recall correctly, The SD50.s file is for the frame, handrails, cab and nose. SD50body.s is for the actual body. Are you able to modify the shape to "Pilbarafy" it? If you want to, I could contact Dick Cowen? Also David, dont forget about the P5 horn mounted directly above the driver's window. Thanks a lot mate! >Mike Forster< Perth, Western Australiapacificnational_nr103@hotmail.com
You know I stared at the above "authentic looking" radiator grids for over ten minutes before I figured out how you got them to look that good. Duh! Right in front of my eyes and couldn't see it at first. Excellent job. I will have to make my grids that way from now on. They look more realistic than the ones I have done in the past on any of my engines. Hope you solved your numbering problem. I think it is within your alpha file. Anyway, excellent job. They look very nice. Hmmm, could my fictional RR have rented out a couple of these engines? Would have been expensive, but what the heck, this is my RR and I can do whatever I want with it, so yeah, I want a couple of those...RangerWestern Maryland Railroad Gone, but not forgotten!
hehehe, thanks for your kind words Tim! Yeah, the radiator grids took quite awhile, but by all means, use this style if thats what you would like! Drop me an email if you would like some tips prehaps?Yeah, Dick Cowen is working on a proper .s file for the SD50's which include dual handrails, air/con box behind the cab and a P5 horn mounted right above the driver side window. Next, I will be doing Utah Railway SD50's (as UR purchased the SD50S's off NREX who purchased them off Hamersley Iron back in 1995.)>Mike Forster< Perth, Western Australiapacificnational_nr103@hotmail.com
Hi Mike,When applying the "numbers",do you have the "anti-aliasing" box checked in the dialog box?if not, that will make your nubers look blurry.Other than that it looks pretty good.
