Ok, I know I am a dummy, but I could have sworn that I read on this forum a reply from someone with the question of converting 1024x1024 ace files back to 1024x1024 ace files after reskinning from a paint program. The answer was that in order to do this since tgatool2 won't is to save the file to tga format and then use makeacewin to convert the tga file back to 1024x1024 ace file. Well, I tried that, and it came up with the same thing that tagtool2 said, that it can't convert anything over 512x512??? So what gives here? I even looked at the makeace help file and it too said it could only go as high as 512x512. So how are you guys that are creating reskins of these 1024x1024 getting the ace files that size? I am at a loss and need help here. Can it be done. And yes I have the updated msts tools programs. Am I just going to have to convert to 512x512 and be done with it. Surely there is a way. I saved the 1024x1024 file from psp to tga as well as saved it in the tgatool2 to tga just in case I messed up somewhere. So I now have two 1024x1024 files in tga format and can't get them converted to ace 1024x1024!!!!
I need help please. This is the first time I have tried this size file so am ignorant of what I am supposed to do at this point. Or is there any other way????Thank you so much for the help anyone. Obviously it is being done because I have some of the reskins in that size, so how did you do it please!I will forever be in your debt whomever answers this and allows me to do this.A dummy,

If I am not mistaken for Makeace to handle any thing over 512 you need to go to the Microsoft Train Simulator website ( Not sure of the URL but just go to Google and search for Microsoft Train Simulator ) and download the Tools update that they have available . That should make makeace to be able to handle textures over 512x512Shane Palus .

RE: HHHHEEELLLPPPP!

Thanks Shane but I have the update already. And it still won't work. Unless there is another update that I am unaware of or can't find. I got that one from the MSTS site. Anyway, thanks for the reply but still won't work. The version I have of makeacewin is v.1.04. Is there a newer one and where can I get it. Like I said, I updated from the MSTS site the game update and the tools update. Unless there is one somewhere else.Again thanks for the reply though.RangerWestern Maryland Railroad

RE: HHHHEEELLLPPPP!

Dang, I forgot all about that box being there. Duhhhh!!! See, I told you I was a dummy. I will try that and see if it will work. I thank you so much for the reply. If it works, I owe you big time. See what being out for a year and a half can do to you!
However if it doesn't I am coming after you. No, just kidding. I bet it does. I will try it after logging off here. If not then I will be back to ask the same question again.
I would have changed it to 512 if necessary but I think it would lose something by doing that, since it is 1024 to start with. Am I correct in that?
Anyway, thanks for teaching an old dog a trick he should have remembered. Thank goodness for this forum!RangerWestern Maryland Railroad
