Is there anyway that a shape could use two different textures. It is just something I have been toying with. Reason I am asking is that I would like a switchstand from MapleLeafTracks to have a green marker for the normal route, and yellow marker for diverging. I can get this for both switchstands, but would only like to use it for the short ones, like the ones that are used in spurs and yards. The tall switchstand would use a green marker for the main and a red marker for the diverging. I have repainted and have a separate .ace file for both, but the shape only uses the repainted yellow for both stands. Is there anything that can be done? I can post a screen if needed. Thanks in advance for any responses.LC17"The Cannon has fired again"
RE: Getting one shape file to use multiple textures
First I thought you were trying to get a single shape using two textures instead of only one which can't be done unless you have the original 3ds, gmax, TSM or 3DC project (or whatever was used). You are talking about changing one object, the short switchstand, to using a different texture than the other, tall switchstand. This can be done if you uncompress the s-file and edit it using WordPad you can change the name of the ace-file referenced by the shape. When s-file is open in WordPad simply search for the old ace-file name and change it to the new name. Save and recompress the s-file afterwards.
RE: Getting one shape file to use multiple textures
ffeditc_unicode.exe in the Utils subfolder or if you don't like messing with DOS-prompts get the ShapeFileManager utility by Paul 'Decapode' Gausden. RouteRiter and some other utilites can do it also I think.
