NS Fans Only… skins in progress

Here are some pics of the SD70 and C40-9W blanks I am doing for Keith on the NS project. I have moved from photo skinning to constructing my own textures. There is great more painting and drawing involved. I am still using photos for several parts, like grills, latches and lights. The doors were constructed by hand with photo hinges. The roof of the loco was done by hand. I like the effects I am getting. This is my first chance at creating textures from the ground up and I would like to thank Keith for giving me shot. I have learned a ton on this project. These skins are so much better than the D9-40C I did a few days ago, that I am considering taking a day or two to redo it. Be patient, this is a lot of work but you will not be disappointed.Pete

I am on a roll with these new units and really don't want to dig up the Cbeams.I simply wrote over the default Cbeams. They are Teemu's models and my textures. I am not willing to package all the Cbeams and write up the documents right now. If someone is willing I will send them the files and let them package it up for release.Pete

And I remember when Keystone was just a thought in someone's mind. And most of us know who that was. Great work Pete, they are really looking excellent. I think they would look great in any livery but NS will do. Actually I live by many of NS's lines so have to be a fan!
I was also curious about the cabviews. You didn't answer. But I will accept whatever you give us.
Just some outstanding work. And glad it is coming from Keystone. I always knew they would come through with some great stuff.

Just so that everyone is clear...This isn't a Keystone product, this isn't an NALW product. Right now it's a project with two people...Myself (Keith Getter) and Pete AbramsYes I'm a part of NALW and Pete is a member of Keystone, and both (NALW, Keystone) have worked on projects in the past. Well this isn't one of those projects. Not yet anyway! The whole group of models started with me asking Pete to take a shot at skinning the trucks on the Dash 9's! Who da thunk we would get this! Anyway I have actually improved the models quite a bit from the photos that have been posted. More eye candy!! Pete and I are both committed to doing it right so there will be many adjustment before we finish. All the models that you have seen are built to Norfolk Southern specifications. So these won't work for other railroads. But that will change soon As for the cabs and sounds? Both will probably will probably be NALW products. We are experimenting with some new and exciting products.So... no matter who the models comes from (NALW,Keystone,both companies, or just Pete and myself) rest assured you will get the best of both our capabilities.All will be freeware!Thanks for the support!Keith Getter

I humbly apologize for that Keith. Didn't realize it was a two man show, for the time being anyway. When I saw Pete's name attached I just made a wrong assumption. In any case, they look great and I am looking forward to seeing more as the work progresses. You can't have a much better guy to work with than Pete Abrams. I don't know you, unfortunately, but from what I can see, he has a great partner as well.

No problem Keith, just feel kind of stupid making that assumption. Just partial to the TKW people I guess. Goes back a ways to their humble beginnings and the great group of guys they have there. And I can say the same about your group too, as well as just about every other one out there. You all do outstanding work and it is great to see some of you coming together, whether singly or as a group to add more to this fine game.
And you will always have my support when you put out great products like this.
