I have read all of the docs. and help, even went to UK site and read there help on painting, but am still having problems with the Alpha channel. I am using TGA2 loading .ace file, it has solid colors on left and alpha channel on right. Sending image to editor, PSP7, painting image new color. Closing PSP7 with save on exit. New color and alpha channel there in TGA2. Export "Ace {Alpha}-not DXT" Everything ok no errors. Now when I reopen the .ACE file, the new color is there but there is no Alpha channel, Naturally no transparent windows. What is happening to the Alpha channel? Any help will be appreciated, Thanks
Use tgatool to save your modified file as a targa, then MakeAceWIN to convert it back to .ace format (my thanks again to GaryH2).http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID8/4916.html
Thanks Bud that got me headed right too. I found that the makeacewin.exe was not even opening up either, so I restarted my computer and everything started working right again, even the TGA2 tool exporting the Alpha Channel too. I just have to restart the computer after shutting off direct draw, before using either makeace or TGA2, since I have a Radeon card which will not let makace work with direct draw on.Have to do the same thing when turning direct draw back on. Anyway thanks, I now have all passenger cars and engine painted and converted with clear windows. Nice looking SP GS4 4-8-4 engine in passenger colors with pass. cars.
