RE: Rough Draft BNSF AC4400CW

The finished Engine will Be BNSF 5601 wich there seems to be alot of sites about this engine. I will make it a three engine set 5600,5601,and 5602. I need to tweek the paint around the radiator area as that area is wrong by the looks of things and will have a working paint by the end of this week I hope as long as I can find enuf source material.

There are several problems I see here Don. First, NALW's model is a poor choice for doing a BNSF AC4400, due to the ditchlight/numberboard arrangement (but since there is really no other alternative available...), and second you are using textures based on photos for the new GEVO powered C45AC's. Most of BNSF's 50+ GE AC locos are standard AC4400s, not GEVOs (The road numbers for BNSF's C45's only begin at 5722).

RE: Rough Draft BNSF AC4400CW

Rgr Jon I have noticed the problems and am looking for differant pictures to donate the textures from. I took a Picture myself over the Holidays that when developed, depending on how it turns out will be the donor Picture for the Radiator area around the rear of the engine. I have also been searching the web for BNSF AC4400 Pictures that will be used to texture it. As stated this is a Rough Draft to get the Lighting and Look and then I will Start the Finished engine.
I may take some time doing this engine as there is a BNSF Line about 50 miles from here that I could easly go to and take pictures, However I dont have a Digital Camera as of yet and will be a few months before this engine will be done.
I personaly want my engines to turn out as good as they can as I am going to start to reliese them here at train sim again.
I have decided to Ignore those who Just talk to here there heads rattle and focus on what I personaly want. BTW I am making a formal Request to anyone who wishes to Help with these Engines if you can provide Pictures of AC4400 Engines from the BNSF it would be apreaciated and I will mention you in the Credits for the repaint.
Please Send a Personal Message or Email If your interested.Thank YouDon Pottorff

Photos that would be usable would have to be side views that are level and directly from the side. anything at an angle would not suffice as I am doing photo skins from now on. what that means for those who dont know is I am using the parts of a photo itsself to skin the engine. Usable photos are hard to find unless one has gone into a yard or caught a train at a still moment and done a walk around of it taking pictures from flat angles to it. angled photos cause problems when trying to get straight lines in the textures and getting parts of the paint to line up with other parts.
So if you are wanting pictures to be used keep these things in mind.
and if you see trains sitting on a siding that would be a good time to take such pictures.
I live close to a UP line and will when I have a digital camera start to catch them when they sit on the siding, being that I have seen trains sit in the same place for a few hours at a time.
But If you think a Picture is usable please send it to
depj@rebeltec.net
Also if you want a Unit done that isnt UP or BNSF but have pictures with most likely a Digital Camera that are usable I will also do those reskins for you.Don Pottorff

I just started work and the photo you sent me is a perfect donor for the side view. here is my start on the unit 6012. I will have to fill out a License agreement with Union Pacific Before I finish this and upload it. but here is the start of it.

Yes a License agreement is needed before you upload them. Also if you are painting the NALW engine I would recommend that you ask them as well as it is there work, and Chuck has been clear about Copyright on there works
Here is what I got from UP when I Sent them an email.Mr. Pottorff,We request that freeware producers license with Union Pacific to create
paint schemes for distribution. If you will send me your mailing address,
I will put an application in the mail to you. The license will permit you
to use all of Union Pacific's trademarks.Thank you,Brenda Mainwaring
Director, Corporate Relations
Union Pacific RailroadI should be getting the License in the mail this week if all went alright, wich i dont see why it wouldnt have. However when I get the License and a Agreement with NALW and all other parties wich will be a longer process then reskinning it in the first place these two engines will finaly get uploaded. This will be my return to sharing my repaints. I am also considering uploading all my other repaints as well, wich includes updates to the AT&SF 1337 wich I have been working on since I had uploaded it the first time.

RE: Rough Draft BNSF AC4400CW

Well that one is on a definate hold till I can get some differant pictures of some BNSF AC4400CW's. It will most likely be near the end of this summer after I get a Digital camera and take a few more trips to Brush Colorado along the BNSF Main line there. However it will not take to many trips as they run about 12 trains thru brush daily.
then again maby I could take a trip into denver to the huge Yard they have there and get not only some BNSF but Union Pacific as well. But ya It kinda looks like they didnt get finished with the paint and had to send it out as was lol.

RE: Rough Draft BNSF AC4400CW

I just went to the UP web site and found a link to the headquarters.
I addressed in the Topic that I wanted it sent to Brenda Mainwaring.
A week later (mind that I sent it on New Years Eve) I got a responce.
I replyed back with my Home address and was sent the forms. I filled them out and sent them back on the same day.
Now I wait for Uncle Sams Mail Carriers to get it there and then its a wait for UP's responce.
